I do not believe the parents have anything to do with it.
They've kept the issue in the spotlight through temendous efforts on their part.
Surely if they were guilty they would want everything to fade into the background as soon as possible. To be honest if it wasn't for their efforts we probably wouldn't even be discussing it today.Surely the McCanns would have came back to the UK ages ago if they had wanted the case to fall out of the spotlight, which surely you would do if you had something to hide.
It doesn't add up. And to suggest that it was all a big smokescreen seems ridiculous to me.
The Portugese police seem to have no consistency and have done nothing to inspire any faith in their competence.
I think it's typical that suddenly they are guilty (Kate McCann was jeered by a crowd as she went in for questioning

) in many folks eyes. It seems that people almost want them to be guilty. It's like a mob mentality.
