Looky looky men

It has to be said that any unsolicied approach whether on holiday or not is a total pain.

Add the fact that some of the guys can be very intimidating and the problem is worse.

I lost count of the number of times I was woken up by someone pushing tat at me when trying to recover on the beach after Privilege Opening last year.

I just used the no eye contact , kind of disinterested 'No thanks mate' and it seemed to be ok.

Was nearly mugged late one night in San An by a gang of dodgy characters but I was so mashed I knew nothing about it until my wife told me next morning !

Apparently lots of guys appeared round us from various directions near the Egg and moved in with obvious intent but they disapeared again when a few Brits came round the corner and scared them off any action. Thanks whoever you were. :)

............why don't you just try to be friendly....we all talk about having an open mind in Ibiza...but when it comes down to a few Africans trying to make a few bucks.......you all clam up.........ever tried a few words of Arabic (Muslem)........I greet them all in Arabic and talk about African footballers......within seconds we are all smiling.........and they stop trying to sell me stuff..........if you've had a hard time with them....just think up ......did you try to communicate with them ?......or just dismiss them like a Big Issue seller ?...

im hardly gonna take up arabic to avoid buying crap off a looky man

When i worked for Bar M i was always surrounded by the Looky Looky men, especially when flyering up and down the strip.

They did my head in at first and seemed quite intimidating, but as i got to stand with the same old faces they were really friendly!

They were quite useful late at night too when i was flyering on my own at 3-4am! I would always get random minging old men (mainly from germany or USA??!) swagger up to me after they'd been out and would try and grab me etc....the looky looky men always sorted them out for me!

true,i spent 8 hrs in the west end flyering one night, just talk football with em and there ok

I reached into my pocket and grabbed all my loose change and threw it as hard as I could into his face and ran faster than I have ever run before

if u had time 2 do that y dint u just knock him out?! :D
Because A) I was giving him the impression I was about to give him some money (which I guess I was!)
And
B) If I stood close enough to knock him out I would've been close enough for him to stick his knife in me. Duh!

The football thing is correct they can't get enough of it. I have been told the year I worked there a football game was arranged between the looky looky boys and some workers at the sand pitch up from the egg. all the looky looky boys turned up in predies, shinnies and full strips it was hilarious apparantley. Give them some chat about some afircan or french footballers and they love it. It hass been known that some workers buy a whole load of cheap football tops that you get in jjb etc and barter with them for some of there more desirable goods.

Got back last Thursday and have to say fair play to the police in San Antonio- there were hardly any looky men at all!!! Now if only they could do something about those minging black prostitutes on the front- one kept harrassing me every time I walked along the front during the week (one even offered me her 13yo sister when I refused her advances *shudders* I guess I could always have got her to wash the hire-car or something).

I am from Canada and i have been in the most getto places in the US and Mexico so i am sure I wont have any problems. Plus i am a pritty big guy so usually no one messes with me. It sounds like the poor buggers are just trying to make a living.......or I could be wrong

There seems to be hardly any looky looky types about this year in San An. Typical you can never find one when you want one

The Looky don't speak arabic, most of them are muslims but not arabs.
Never had a problem, just be firm and say no.
They're just trying to make some money and remember they're illegal in Spain and their fear is to be deported
