Epworth is a sprawling metropolis...it has a leisure centre and a rectory... You must be secretly jealous.

   What more do you need in life than a leisure centre and a rectory

It is unbelievable what you get for your money up north though.

Even in cities? I thought Manchester prices in half decent areas were similar to London now, even if only to surburban properties?

Where I live near Blackheath, Lee Green, Hither Green and Manor Park are all rather lovely areas, close to everything and the prices are still very reasonable. You have to get the overground trains rather than the Tube, but they run every 10 mins in rush hour and go to London Bridge, Charing Cross and Canon Street. Takes me 25mins to get to work at Charing Cross.

:)

Cities have definitely gone up, but still cheaper than London....

I looked at Leeds a few weeks back for a friend and I was tempted to move north myself...

Epworth in Lincolnshire will go through the roof though once mini Barbie moves in ;)

You still gonna watch City if you live down here then?? :)

Well, it's no further than going to the games from Glasgow!

East London is looking the most tempting, plus that's where most people I know down there live. The prices are frightening though, but not too dissimilar from the West End of Glasgow, where I currently live.

We worked on some fabulous apartments in Sheffield last week.

I took a particular liking to one at £400k. The developer said i could have it for contractor discount of £315k.

Just goes to show what profits they're making.

I'm very suprised/shocked that James is off and we really need to get a decent replacement in quickly, as shown by all the goals conceeded in Asia. Distin was inevitable after Dunney getting the captaincy and Dabo getting his number. I'm not too fussed by that as I think our defence is looking pretty decent. Trabelsi would be an amazing signing but I read when on holiday that Pearce only wanted to offer him £7k a week which seems pretty low.

North ain't half as cheap as many southerners think to be honest. (And I'm talking about the real north not the midlands:lol: like Manchester)

Some areas of Newcastle cost up to £1000,000 for a terraced house in areas such as jesmond and I saw a new build house in a cul de sac last week that was up for £990k in Sunderland.

It's all, generally, to do with desirable areas whatever part of the country you're from.

It is geneally cheaper, but not to the degree eberyone thinks.

I don't think it's desirability.....But is the difference in punters.... (Forgot to put a question mark at the end - hence edited)

The North - Charge 'em more, they're thick so they'll pay...
The South - Charge 'em more, cos they earn more and need to live here....

This is not always the case nowadays either.

Some of my friends/acquaintances earn VERY good salaries who say they would be paid exactly the same wherever they were based.

I would imagine small northern towns would never catch up but the cities seem to be booming economically.

Cities yes I suppose, in some trades, but economics do show that London & South east earn above average & House prices are above average in the majority of cases.

There is a general feeling that everything is dearer in the south, there is higher demand, prices are pushed up, salaries follow slowly...

Fav. example - If I want my car fixed - I'll go home oop north £25 per hour instead of £70 for labour. Why is it £70 in London - Because people will pay £70....

You beat me to it Mark - i just think why pay 1mill for a house in Jesmond, on a busy road, near loads of bars and sh1te parking restrictions everywhere - for that money I would be moving outfrom Newcastle and having a house with land !!!!

Even my little 2 bed cottage has made 100k profit in the last 2 years and I think "how?????" I wouldnt pay it myself.

Barbie - 8O 8O your sis needs 6 bedrooms??? Think of the cleaning!!!
