There, I've said it.
I went last Wednesday (22 June) with two of my friends for my boyfriends birthday having heard such good reports about it. As he's a veggie, I checked beforehand to make sure there would be a good selection, and was assured there was loads for him to choose from - even the Rough Guide said it had a wide selection for our meat-free chums.
We arrived at midnight, the time of our booking and was told by a rather surly lady that our tale wasn't ready but we could have a drink (gee, thanks
). I personally hadn't expected it to be in quite the same league as Pacha et al and there 150 euro+ bottles of spirits. We, we stuck to a bottle of beer of which it was the cheapest quality KM5 could be bothered to get.
30 minutes and several tummy rumbles later, we were eventually seated in the very attractive, if tiny, dining area and presented with the menu. Imagine our horror to discover main courses described as vaguely as "chicken" yet commanding over 20 euros. If I didn't care what I ate, I'd have just gone to McDonalds.
The most annoying thing was that the alleged fantastic veggie choices were merely boring sounding salads...at about 16 euros each! Despite the fact that I was paying, and still happy to (even if it would've been through gritted teeth) my boyfriend decided that he wasn't happy for me to pay half of what would basically amount to 200 euros for the table, so we left feeling somewhat hacked off.
Have they just suddenly decided to hike their prices up or is this how it's always been? I don't mind paying for quality but it did reek of them taking the piss somewhat, as they realise how trendy they're perceived as.
