Kumharas is brilliant, it's pretty authentic
authentic what?
i'm afraid i get cynical about places that charge me 3 times the going rate for a drink and i don't know what i'm getting for the extra money.
i see kumharas as merely another marketing exercise designed to extract as much dinero as possible from a 'wannabe' public eager to attain peer approval.
quote/unquote discuss as my old politics professor used to say!
The prices wern't that bad when i was there about 5 euro's a drink and a jug of sangria for about 12 euro's at the end of the day its an interesting place to go in nice surroundings probably more suited to the younger clubby hippy type
The fact that your an older person stephen is why you don't see things like the younger people who chat on this forum This means in retrospect the places that you dislike has nothing to do with the actual place but more to do with your age and your demeanor which puts you in a different catogory to what you like and enjoy.
This is something that you have admitted many times in previous posts.
It is someone into heavy thrash music telling someone who is into dance music that it is a pile of rubbish.
Secondly anyone choosing to open a bar or any business should make as much money as possible. If a bar chooses to charge more than others and still gets busy then i'd say that is a good piece of marketing. There are probably many bars in Ibiza ( and the world ) that have really cheap drinks but still fail to get busy, therefore losing money as there are places that charge lots and are dead. Its all a matter of marketing and research if you can't be bothered to do this then you should close the business.
Obviously Kumhares have found a market and are doing well from it.
This is obviously not your market which is quite understandable.
I would describe kumhares as something similar to the other sunset bars that has a different look to the others, that is more out of the way than the others and that has less brit tourist beer boys e.t.c. They play chilled out music to the sunset and make it a bit more interesting by having a chello player fire dancers and a belly dancer. There is also an interesting indonesian resturaunt area that you can eat food while sat on floor cushions. The service is relaxed ( slow ) but friendly prices are not cheap but not expensive around 5 euro's for a drink and 15 euro's for a bottle of wine. There are also many little hippy stalls scattred around the place that sell things like beads jewellry and hand carved figures e.t.c
That is my unopinionated review of the place.
