Kanya open by July 1st?

I can't believe it!!! That's great news. How have they dealt with the problems they were faced with last year regarding noise and stuff?

Are they going to be able to play music outdoors during the day and then take the party inside at night?

Kanya.

Was really gutted to hear the death of adorable old Kanya  , some of the piccies of Kanya being torn down were too tough to look at.... Fingers crossed that some of the old magic (vibe and staff -inc. Rob Burne) is around with the new Kanya 8) ... Classic place with some great memories, looking forward to making more future memories at the new Kanya...

Thanks for keeping us updated McRackin.

Everything said in this post x 2. :)

Ive gotta say, they have completely ruined kanya, they really have.

Ive just got back and was there thursday and friday, and its nothing like it was before.

Think Coastline, and there you have it, there is nothing around the pool aside from concrete, the whole thing is set back into the apartment block, there is basically NO outside.

You know how the pool was the centre of kanya, you know what i mean... well, thats not the case now, its just another run of the mill bar, why they did this i really dont know.

Its such a shame, the place has no atmosphere whatsoever and was only busy-ish on the cream pre-party, they have PR's desperately trying to get people in, but they've got their work cut out cos it truly is dog****.

My advice is avoid at all costs, the place is D-E-A-D.

They have been forced to make it more enclosed as last year there was a lot of problems with complaints regarding the noise from local residents.

Arrr i see.

Its a true shame cos its a dive now...

I hate coastline, its so much like that now, they simply have no charecter, and you can see they are simply there to milk that sunset.

Speaking of which, i hear some rumours to build on that Waste land between Cafe Del Mar and Coastline... about time!!

This was always my worst fear..... :( Though I will still go and judge for myself :? The pictures posted so far are not keeping my hopes alive of Kanya being improved.... It appears the opposite is true. I hope McRackin can furnish Spotlight with some of the usual quality piccies (instead of the "borrowed" DSI photos) so we can see a little bit more of the "improvements" before making the journey:?: From the pictures on Spotlight / DSI Kanya looks like a cheap burger joint inside and lifelesss outside.

I wander which neighbours complained about the noise from the old Kanya....(Coastline /Sun Sea Bar by any chance:?: ) you couldn't really hear the music from behind the old Kanya, certainly not as bad as other part of the island...

My last hope is....They haven't really finished the work at Kanya (McRackin, please confirm:cry: ), and there's more improvements to come and they just tidied up the building work to open on time..... (everything crossed!)

yeah i hope it is a project to be continued...

it looks that way anyway as there is a huge swathe of concrete around the pool and the bar is set back about 10 metres from there, so the pool looks like it shouldnt be there. No one was using it when i was there.

and the inside is almost identical to sun sea and coastline, it was completely empty.

Put it this way, on a friday night, there were 7 people there, eating outside, and 4 of them were with me.
Jonathan Ross was on the screens, and the bar staff just stood there looking awkward.

JONATHAN ROSS for ****s sake!!

We need some more inside information on Kanya and the future of the bar / Pool area.... Kanya can't just be left to die...

I know loads of people that considered the old Kanya and institution (Maybe there's the reason to change) however change for the better, not for worse....

There will be a lot of (non spotlight peeps) that arrive in Ibiza this year and will be gutted by the sad transformation of Kanya....

Someone from Spotlight - Please investigate further, and tell us all that Kanya is work in progress....

keep it funky

Kanya is good, but Coastline is a more laid back maybe a slighty older crowd. It's horses for coarses !!
Robin ( and hopefully me ) on the decks at Coastline is what my summers are all about, but don't forget there are many other places on the island.
In regards to rock music, please whoever is organising these events " **** off somewhere else". The spirit of Ibiza is and always has been Spiritual/sexy music in whatever form but rock or punk does not and never has fallen into this category. Take it from someone who lived through the punk era, this is not peaceful or happy music. Leave the past behind and push the music forward !!!!
i hope your rock nights fail miserably. Long live the funk.
