Jade Jagger's Dog Goes Wild.
Jade Jagger, daughter of the famous Rolling Stone who lives on a farm in the Sant Joan area of the island, was in court on the island this week. Late last autumn it appears that her "Podenco" dog escaped several times from the farm & ran "wild" with sheep & goats grazing on neighbours land causing the death of one or more of the farm animals.
The Guardia Civil were called into investigate & were apparently able to pin the blame for the dearth of 2 sheep & the injury of several more animals on Jade Jagger's dog.
Faced with the evidence, it appears Jade paid compensation to one of the neighbours straight away but finally only settled with the other claimants after the case was handed over to the courts.
At the court hearing this week in Ibiza, Jade Jagger was absolved of the charges when the Judge was informed that she had fully compensated her neighbours for the actions of her dog.
Podenco dogs are the typical breed of the island. They are medium build, thin, short haired & fast dogs like a grey hound. The locals have used them for thousands of years for hunting rabbits as well as other game on the island & they are supposedly directly related to the breed of dogs which are depicted on paintings in the Pharaohs tombs in Egypt. Interestingly, perhaps the best & most pure examples of the breed existing on the island today are owned by "Pete the Butcher" & his family in Cala de Bou. Their 2 Podenco dogs have won numerous international dog show competitions.
