Itaca

I was there a lot at the end of 2014, nice long afternoons being served beer, a bit flat like yours if I remember right but normally too happy and chilled to care about minor things like that. Was staying at the hotel just along to the left so it was perfect, and great service, never without a beer and always a nice surprise when the bill came. On my last night they put up a stage on the beach right in front. Not the best of music but remember a girl dancing away to herself on the beach then up on the stage with a hula hoop. Got some good photos of that night somewhere.

Found it!

was Itaca always Itaca, Im struggling to remember if it was something else late 90s
great bar though. For me, Its purchasing and turning into a restaurant with music is symbolic of the way Ibiza is ditching the rave for the safe euro.

Itaca took a bit of a hit in 08 when Linekers opened. Your "typical" San An punta didn't really fit the vibe Itaca was offering whilst Linekers did.

Well, was there last month and the vibe/crowd has most definitely changed.. no percussionist, no dancers, no sax player.. just loads of bar staff that weren't exactly happy to help.. the ones I experienced anyway!

A sad day for Itaca :(

Just back from the island - Itaca has been, since I first visited in 2001, my favourite San An bar. The bar looks the same, but the vibe / atmosphere has definitely changed. Music more often than not is commercial house (which can be fine to be fair) or more often than not, R&B. The old staff have gone, with a bunch of young, inexperienced Brits having replaced them.

I completely appreciate that a lot of young Brits will prefer this vibe, and I didn't notice the bar being particularly busier or quieter, but it isn't for me. Then again, maybe I am just grumpy and don't like change!

Orange Corner hasn't changed mind you...

I heard the old owner passed the bar to his son who cocked it up big time , pissed off all the staff that had been there years , then he's sold it to liniker ,

From the sounds of it San an is having a hard time so the spanish might of sold it at the right time !

Why is San An having a hard time?

I did see some horrific looking 'ladies night' event advertised at Itaca this week.

Dj was Jacki Degg and Dane Bowers :spank:

Why is San An having a hard time?
Numbers are down , it's quiet , beaches are quiet , bars are complaining of low custom ,
I drive round and each English bar /cafe has a few in where the local cafes are still busy .

Eden has 2 busy ish nights es Paradise has err none !

Starting to see the effect of brexit/over priced / shit quality/ bad service . Experience we are used to here

Fingers crossed we will see a drop in prices and a improvement in quality

I had the pleasure of hearing Dane Bowers the other night....he was supporting DJ Amy Childs, "first lady to get their bra off wins a date with Dane" etc, etc.

Sad times for Itaca. It's always a bar I have visited since my first trip in 03. I'll have one last Beer in there next Month but for me along that strip of beach bars I've always loved the orange corner. Nice and chilled out, great service and prices. First place I had a beer in back when I first went to Ibiza

What's Ibiza rocks bar like these days? I've had food in there the last few years but not been at night. They still do pre parties? I remember when they had a Nando's in there

I write this in all seriousness

the Bowers and Linekers need to be hounded out by vigilantes. Torch their properties, ransack their premises. chase them out of town.

these people are evil

they must be SMASHED
