Is this the end for day parties in Ibiza?

i don't understand. you're all on holiday when you're here. does it make any difference at all what time of day or night you are getting your music/dancing fix?

generally no, a dark dingy club in ibiza is not much different from a dark dingy club in london, sheffield, glasgow, etc.

so the daytime thing is what makes the holiday different/special/unique.

I really don't think the authorities have thought this through. (Well, there's a surprise:?)

At least with the carry-ons the police had a pretty good idea where the casualties were going to be. Instead the people who can't stop partying (I'm running out of euphemisms here) are going to be annoying families on PDB or wherever. It's much harder to control small groups of people than a load of clubbers corralled into one place.

I can see what people mean about afters being under less control with no 6am-12pm clubs, but then it was being wound down last season, and there were a lot more villa/secret things going on.

It's a shame for sure, but I was never a big afters one. I'd been to a few carry ons at Space, but never got to either that or DC10 before 12, and that's still a good 7-8 hours in the sun before things darken. If I'd got there at 7am I'd usually have been half dead by about 3 or4, and I like the afternoon better there than the morning. But horses for courses... it's not like they're banning daylight clubbing......

It is a shame that I'd never been to DC10 at 6 or 7am, but there you go.

Things change, it's not better or worse, just different.

Just looks like I'll have to hire a car for the whole week next time....

Nothing is sure for the moment!!!I think, this law is not for summer 2007 but for the summer 2008,2009 ... because the club had book summer 2007 (For exemple Tom Novy every sunday at space "WE LOVE SUNDAY" ...)

To repeat what was noted above, we're not talking about all daytime clubbing. We're mainly talking about the 8-12:00 window.

Is it sure for the 8h -> 12h window ??? or nothing is sure?

as far as i know (and have read), they plan to introduce a law that forbids nighttime clubs to open between 6h and 12h, which would mean that (for example at space) daytime parties could only start at noon...correct me if i'm wrong though!

which would kill everything cause alot if not most people go straight after another club closes around 8am, so if people are forced to go home, they will pass out and not bother with the day parties

yes AND no. of course there are lots of people who go to daytime parties directly after their night out. BUT (IMO) in ibiza a lot of people go "fresh" to daytime parties and that's something you don't see much anywhere else (IMO again). so, even if i don't like the thought of not having a daytime party beginning straight after the night, i think it might work out well. see...dc10 on monday, wls on sunday and also matinée on saturday - these are all daytime parties which begin at 8am...but all of them have their climaxes much later in the day/afternoon!

exactly right - when we went to matinee last year we got up had a nice breakfast and went to space - it was brilliant!

Yeah, I agree with that - I usually like to take it easy the night before WLS, turn up early afternoon then leave Space at about 4am or so for something resembling a night's sleep before heading for DC10 at a similar time the next day. Sitting in Belfast, it's nice to thing "this year I'm going to go at dawn and stay until stupid o'clock," but realistically it's never going to happen. For one thing, with only one pass-out you can't get properly fed and that just isn't an option for me. Although that's not to say that I'm in favour of preventing those who DO want to be there early from doing so.

Ibiza Voice: The policing seems to have become more strict over the last few years, has that affected you?

Danny Whittle (Pacha’s brand manager): "A little bit, but rightly so. There are two sides to Ibiza and we can't forget that. It isn't just about the parties. People live here. There're kids getting to school, or on holiday, so I think the clubs carrying on till 9-10 in the morning isn't a good idea. I don't think it's good for Ibiza. There's a lot to be said for reasonable closing hours."
