Is Pacha really that hideous?

Greetings...

I have been on and off here since last year when I had tickets for FMIF at Pacha and then got blown out by my friend so didn't go, anyway..... I've re booked for 6th Sept this year and am absolutely beside myself with excitement. However I've read some hideous reviews, now i know some people have good experiences and some bad, I'm generally quite fine about being hot and squashed and paying my monthly mortgage amount for 3 drinks but I've read some terrible things and would like to have a little dance or jump up and down for the money I've paid...what's the general consensus?

Am I getting old or shall I just have a good night by re booking Cream or something?

Cheers my lovelies xx
Ps I accept I am old! Ha ha

hi linzi,

don't worry about it. if you like guetta, you'll have a blast. it's full everywhere in august and first week september :)

In my experience, the couple of times I've been, there's been little to no chance of dancing in front of the dj in the Main Room. People are packed in like 'Sardines'. The other rooms may have more scope to jump around in.

last time i was in Pacha "high season" i found that one of the higher levels of the main room had plenty of room for dancing

I personally would rather set fire to my ears than go to pacha (any night of the week) and I'm not a big fan of amnesia either - in fact I don't think I'll ever go back. Don't make the mistake of still going to the big nights in high season just because everywhere is apparently full. It's a waste of money as the clubs get packed well beyond legal capacity to the point where you can't move. Been there done it and had a few good nights ruined by how busy the club was.

You gotta pick your nights wisely - smaller nights are the way forward!

neilly - understand your opininon but you sound very harsh now! it is not that bad this year so far apart of the totally obvious ones (guetta at pacha, swedes at ushuaïa for example).

look linzi, i personally think it's your mindset that has to be right. you know it's going to be packed and if you're willing to take it, you'll have fun. amnesia closing is always my favourite party of the year and everyone knows it's beyond ridiculously busy - but we still always have a blast.

Just my opinion mate, and it may sound harsh but it's came from going to these clubs for years. We know how busy pacha and amnesia get on big nights and for me i personally I'd rather head elsewhere.

There is so much going on in Ibiza right now as alternatives to clubbing, so many good beach pre parties etc to choose from.

I have had my best and worst nights in Ibiza at Pacha !! Kinda explains what type of place it has the potential to be on the given night.

Personally i think that if you are dead keen on one of the acts playing then it's worth getting crammed in but if your getting dragged there against your will and don't like the music then it can be hell.

I went for my first ever sample of Pacha Ibiza last year, it was Funkagenda and Erick Morillo headlinging for the Subliminal party. The club is quite nice, interesting layout with a few smaller rooms where you can escape the squeeze on the main floor. Sound is good but half the club seems to be allotted for VIP seating section which is obviously lucrative but not exactly conducive to a creating a great club atmosphere.

I personally did NOT enjoy my Pacha experience, too busy being the main thing but also the music was pretty ****, Morillo having completely lost his vibe in my opinion, much more electro and mainstream than he used to be.

If I do go back I would try for a less popular line up although thats hard because it always seems to be massive headliners there.

Hope this helps.

Personally for me it's hard to beat the Terrace at Space, I am looking forward to the smaller set up at Sankeys in 2 weeks time!!

Hiya,

I think all these comments are very helpful, cheers guys, and agree that it's mindset, if you go there in a good mood and just get on with it and accept you might geta bit squashed then you can have a great night!
Can't be any worse than The Grenwich dome on millennium new years eve ha ha

Thanks again

THIS :D

I've always had a really good night in Pacha in fact my top 2 best nights on the island have both been in there. It's a beautiful club which yes does get rammed. I usually find myself a spot upstairs where you can still see the DJ but without being crushed. I'm looking forward to going back in September

I agree with Neilly303 to some extent as the large clubs can sometimes get so rammed it ruins your night particularly as they are often rammed with people who are walking around in circles but if you have never been to Pacha before and you like David Guetta then you should probably go, then maybe next time you could see him at Ushuaia. I can't see me ever going to Pacha again, unless i try the flower power night one day, as during my last visit to the Cadenza night a couple of years back I was really put off I couldn't even bob up and down let alone dance and I like to be in the thick of it I don't want to be forced to find a quiet corner.

As for Amnesia I experienced the most terrifying situation ever this year when I took my daughter for her 17th birthday to Together to see Tensnake and one of Friendly Fires. Only Tinie Tempah and Skrillex were in the Terrace that night. Thankfully I purchased the balcony tickets as it was empty up there but when my bf and I took a quick wander downstairs to the main room while Mistajam was on in the terrace, unknown to us Tinie Tempah came on and we couldn't get back through to get up to the balcony. I thought i was going to get crushed to death my hair was getting pulled one way and my bag another, by the time I got back to the balcony I was shaking and almost crying. The girls had a fab night though they were none the wiser but we were trapped on the balcony all night. It was a bit different for me to be on a balcony looking down you feel a bit left out but it's safer for youngsters, we still had fun I even watched Skrillex for a minute lol

Not sure everyone commenting here has actually been to Pacha this year.

Yes of course its still busy (its Ibiza), but the new layout with a now much larger dancefloor has helped things, and the flow of people is slightly better too now that the DJ booth has moved. The main steps into the room are not as bad as they were as people hang around as the DJ is the other side of the room.

Pacha is busy, but this year has been the MOST rocking of some nights that I can remember.

More and more this season the main room has become my favourite room for deep / tech DJs, e.g. Solomun, Maya Jane Coles, Guy Gerber, Reboot etc.... and even Pete Tong - who is getter deeper and darker....especially when he does 5-7AM slot...and deserves some more respect.

I agree about Pete Tong. He played a wicked set at Carl Coxes birthday in Sands beach bar which really wasn't what I'd expected of him.

Tong has evolved over the last 5 years or so
His sets used to be very "of the day" in that he played out whatever genre was dominant - i.e. trancier in late 90s/earlier 00s

Now he seems to have settled on a sound and its driving him on - rather than him following a flavour of the month genre

Agreed. All Gone this year has been bang on the few times I have been (granted on the underground deeper nights). After the Axwell night this Friday, the September nights look bang on! Trentemoeller, Sasha, Seth / Jamie Jones, Maya Janes Coles!

Hmmm, I am not so sure that is strictly true. I just think that as a veteran Tongy is very good at reading the crowd.

For example, I saw him twice in the space of a fortnight at the start of Summer. The second time was at the SHM MK Bowl gig. I can honestly say the set was completely different. In fact, I struggle to recall any two songs that were the same.

As already alluded too, I reckon it's more a case that he is playing a set in tune with the rest of the night and the guest acts that are on the bill.

Let's be honest, and I love the man, but how many people actually go to Pacha on Fridays for Tong himself? Very few I bet. It's all about the guests.

Is that the hours Tongy normally puts in? 5-7am slot?

Hope that is the case when Sasha joins him at Pacha in a few weeks time.

Want to see Sasha, but body can't take too much clubbing at silly o clock!

that pete tong & sasha night is looking like our destination when we are in ibiza, think will be my only night in pacha (first time visitor) looking forward too seeing both of them.

seen pete tong last year (for the first time in years) and have to say he played a really great set and surprised me by how good he was, i think he's found a whole new lease of life from moving to a later slot on radio 1 and can play a lot more of the stuff i think he genuinely loves, the deeper house stuff...im pretty sure thats why he seems to get on so well with troxler/jamie jones and he's been so supportive of maya jane coles due to that shared sound/tempo/direction.
