the question isn't what's better, the question is what's different.
cocoon have always been pretty clear that they will open up their sonic horizon up to a certain extent, but not more than that.
pyramid have tried many things soundwise and are still doing so. some of it with success, some less sucessful.
for example, cocoon putting up hard techno line ups as pyramid does nowadays simply wouldn't be cocoon in today's day and age, end of the story.
cocoon have realised that if they wanted to keep doing a weekly residency, they would have to open up to sounds and artists that just aren't cocoon, since the artists apart from sven that brough the night the punters (carola, hawtin, luciano, RV etc) have simply mostly started doing their own thing.
in short, cocoon simply realised they would have to change into something they don't want to to keep having a successful weekly residency.
