Just seen a video from Pyramid at Amnesia last night. An almost empty dancefloor with MACEO PLEX on the decks. I really want Pyramid to be a success, but really seems to be a hit and miss night, despite the fantastic bookings.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Maceo but he does have a history of emptying the Amnesia terrace :)

Swedish house máfia - Ushuaya July W/Gordo

I think their real home is still Pacha. That's where they propelled their brand. maybe one day they can return there as a trio it would be nostalgic and sólo big

He's been ending off his sets like this for the past two years. He throws in other old school tracks like even Billie Jean by MJ. It's entertaining but needs to switch it up. Maybe someone can confirm who's seen him recently at Hï

Edit: just saw the responses after. Seems like he does! I was basing my observation off of a late 2021 and 2022 shows in Toronto.

He is now doing it every week at Hï on Kususa's remix of my track Iphathi :) He is adding vocals from his own track "You Need Me" :)

Full track name: Aytiwan & Idd Aziz - Iphathi (Kususa Remix)

(Aytiwan is my Afro House alias :) )

Here is a video recorded at Hï one week ago:

Note that he even requested us to have the recording to share on his own socials, let's say that I'm a bit proud of this 🙃 as an Ibiza veteran (and spotlight veteran as well :) I had to share this  )
That's amazing. Good on you!

Also, I like the updated decor for his nights this year (the leaves and that middle ceiling screen). Looks amazing

I've seen a few and it's pretty busy but the black curtain seems to be up....deffo seems like it emptied a bit by the time the daylight was streaming in

The only other competition with the same demographic is Solomun+1 and it was a huge one with Jamie XX, who barely plays in Ibiza. Could explain the numbers.

Where was the black curtain. Terrace or Main room?

Terrace, but looked relatively busy still, just not Sardinesville

Been doing it longer than that! He done the show me love and music sounds better with you one when I was at Day Zero back in 2020! And have to say it was bloody fantastic. Not something you want to hear all the time but there is a time and place and that was certainly one of them. Seeing a short clip on socials does not even start to show the full context of how it’s used. Appreciate though if he’s ending every set like it it can become a bit boring.

Pacha is sold

**WARNING** - Rant incoming below, feel free to put me in my place if anyone disagrees!

Not sure if this has been discussed before but just looking on the calendar and noticed tickets for the Pacha's 50th Anniversary are 100 euro, just for the evening and that's a "pre-sale" price.

I'm not one to usually complain about prices but that seems very steep. Appreciate they are two of the biggest names around the underground scene but they regularly have A list DJ's playing there individual nights. Solomon has Dixon for the closing, arguably just as big as Carola, and they are 80 euro on 3rd release, which I suspect will go until midday (could be wrong). I know Calvin Harris also charges the same, but in terms of world wide status think it is fair to say he is a bigger name, even if not my cup of tea, and certainly performs less regularly than Solomon/Carola.

Maybe I'm being a little harsh but leaves a sour taste when they are charging a 25% increase on their most expensive other nights simply because they can.

I fear, when ticket's sell out and they realise people are happy to pay this price we will soon see the standard Solomon / Carola nights charging this price regularly.

Anyway that's my rant over.

As long as people are willing to pay it...

There's a point at which normal (or perhaps just sensible) people will be priced out of a lot of things in Ibiza.

There will always be people paying it for a while yet due to the clientele Ibiza draws in.

The table next to us last night in Pacha arrived late, looked like they didn't want to be there, then left early. Had their own security so way more affluent than me, vastly different league than me, but if you end up with that in the main the atmosphere will die.

Luckily we had people round us with the same attitude

And that is what chasing the money will do, kill the whole reason why you dance. It will be an interesting point to where that ends up. At the end of the day you have the VFM if you want it still in Akasha and other places so maybe the market forces will just move the people to the more affordable spots.

I loved the general admission even though it was rammed for the middle bit of the night and will most definitely not "have" to do VIP, as good as it was. I found it tough in the 90s to afford the drink prices so it's always had a premium. Back then though the West End was a viable option for a night out

Rambled a lot as probably still drunk but hey there you go. I can afford it now but my kids may look at cheaper destinations even though they love it due to me showing them what the island offers
