Haha, I want to like Afterlife as it appeals to my progressive roots, but ToU play borderline chill out music to my ears, most of it goes nowhere and I think they have become a parody of themselves. I think there is plenty of techno around on the island, it just depends what techno you like and whether that is catered for. DC10 looks promising, Amelie Lens has an August residency, Solomun will have some techno and stivi alluded to CDW doing something. I’m sure Sven will be popping up all over the place. I’m sure there is other stuff too. Lots still to announce. A return of Enter (!) would be nice, as would Resistance.

Yeah I really wanna like afterlife, stunning visual's ..concept in part is a great idea, I think the promotion and sound dictates the DJs play the tracks straight with limited creativity hence the reason the sound dies on the dance floor ..with you on resistance and enter indeed ..I play and produce house , so my techno fix on the island is usually my escape..still time as said
 
re: Privilege. I'm afraid that most of you are running on high doses of nostalgia. In 2019 it looked seriously dilapidated and at least a level below the top-league clubs of the island. I would love to see it reopened and restored to previous glories which I know is quite a challenge at the moment but in 2019 it was a seriously sorry state. :(

You are right, but Privilege has looked dilapidated since 1997! Vista was a big step forward but the main room has always been a massive concrete and steel box for dancing in. It’s looked more and more knackered outside as the years went on though. The sad fact is they didn’t invest enough capital during the good times, unfortunately.

There aren’t many nightclubs (Amnesia Terrace excluded) that look good with the lights on to be fair. They are nightclubs not kitchen show-rooms.

They invested in the sound during the Resistance years there… was brilliant and that’s what counts IMO.

Yes, v true. It was always hard to fill that venue with good quality sound. I’m low maintenance - a good sound system, good music and well stocked bar and jobs a good ‘un. But I guess a lot of younger folk want something more aligned to the kitchen showroom, preferably with lots of phone charging points!

I dont think younger people mind a more rundown underground look (Warehouse Project in UK is popular) but even just keeping it safe and secure must cost Privilege a lot

and what acts can actually fill the main room now? Maybe only Swedish House Mafia, Calvin Harris, David Guetta if they did one offs and no other Ibiza dates, nights like Resistance with a big lineup but those big lineups eat into the profit

Pyramid caters to the old schoolers (myself included) that like quality music. I'm a fan of the terrace stalwarts like Luciano, Villalobos and Raresh but the main room normally has some great techno too

You have to hand it to Hï they are really trying with that Club Room this season! I wonder if for Afterlife they will announce a more consistent resident for the Club Room?
