And Sven having a cocoon residency in Ibiza is just not the right choice tbh !
He is almost 60 yo ! Most of the people under 30 don’t know anything about him … he is not part of the new generation that come to Ibiza !
Playing sometimes now in different location for smaller but quality ravers is the way !
September in ibiza this year, we will have some small quality long Sven rave party 😇

Papa plays interesting techno. Not the slow trance Afterlife stuff, not the relentless sound-alike Drumcode stuff. If there's no Cocoon there needs to be an alternative that occupies similar ground.

Depends if there is a market for it though. Everything has a shelf life. For years there was one or more trance nights a day in Ibiza, now there is one in a week and that’s a short season. It was similar with progressive house and now there is pretty much nothing at all apart from an occasional one off. Hard house had a big presence and now there is nothing. There are very few proper American house sounds, unlike the past. Tastes and wants evolve with new generations of clubbers.

I just think it would be an odd decision from an established night like Cocoon to wait a further year after missing two ..It’s always been a good healthy option for Techno and a true club night ..

Cocoon was tanking well before the pandemic. It had a helluva run and endured much more than most nights in Ibiza. If it is to return, it may be best for it to follow the Clockwork weekend model and target the specific demographic that followed them over 20 years, or run one offs.

It's strange Privilege hasn't announced anything yet despite they have some 'see you in 2022' billboards on the road

ok so…on cocoon:

while it's not impossible (as you all know the island sometimes does surprise us with last minute changes), from what I know there won't be a cocoon ibiza residency anymore this year.

after 20 years of weekly cocoon parties, I think as a big club residency the party has run its course here in ibiza - and that comes from a cocoon fan. I don't completely rule out a few pop-up events, but I believe we'Il simply see sven playing guest slots at various parties
and venues this summer. I'm convinced he'll play regularly here, even if he doesn't have a residency anymore.

over the last five years he's played almost all venues in guest slots, from pacha (for solomun) and heart over hi (afterlife)
and ushuaïa and up to de10 and underground, and I think rather than having to play one club almost every week all summer, he'll enjoy it much more now popping up here and there in a guest role.

it's not been portrayed so much anywhere yet, but johannes goller, who used to run cocoon ibiza, actually isn't with cocoon anymore and that's also not an unimportant detail in all of this.

plus, when in 2019 they only did those two big usuhaia shows and then a few pop ups, I believe sven and his team were actually pretty happy with that formula, so to me it's not a
surprise at all if there's no cocoon residency anymore. they were gonna have one in 2020, but speaking purely as a clubber I'm happy that one never materialized due to covid because IMHO it would have been a complete non-fit.

I'm sure once all dates & details are set cocoon are going to announce it all.
 
Makes sense for Cocoon on the island sadly - but don’t write Sven off as a DJ. His gig at E1 in London in a few weeks has sold a lot of tickets even 4 weeks out
 
Did anyone get down to the opening of "out" at the beach star? Keen to hear how it was and how it looks - staying there over August bank holiday once again. Location wise, could be better but the hotel itself and the staff are brilliant - and the vibe by the pool is top notch too!
