Calvin Harris sold out, Music On sold out, David Guetta surely packed if not completely sold, Clockwork filled the terrace (though by the time I had left, the main room was pretty surplus to requirements), Defected strong but not uncomfortably busy

Wonder how the rest faired. Obviously CW is a bit of an anomaly as they bring their own crowd. Got to say, amongst the faithful, there was a lot of young blood there too last night which was great to see

Interesting that Ushuaia are still promoting Swedish House Mafia tomorrow night, dont doubt it'll be busy but ive seen a lot of ads for their UK arena tour too, which suggests the comeback isnt the massive smash predicted.

I guess we'll find out tomorrow. Certainly it doesn't have the same momentum that 2019's one-off party had

Does feel like their comeback tune with the weekend didn’t really do much. Also their UK gigs are basically stadiums and playing midweek in places like Birmingham at £50+ a ticket so not surprised

Absolutely right, the music hasnt been strong enough since they came back and yes nobody wants to go to a rave (even if it is a very corporate arena one) midweek, apart from in Ibiza of course where what day it is doesnt matter 😀

To a certain extent, you'd expect Swedish House Mafia's core audience is not there, in the same numbers, any longer. At the height of their popularity in 2012, a different "EDM" sound. They only had like seven original songs back then, and now they return with a sound that's mostly completely different.

When they returned in 2018, you got that 'original' experience, but it hinges on 2010-2012 nostalgia in many regards.

I expect many of the people that want that experience are knowingly not getting what they're hoping for during this tour. Many of the people that wanted that now have a family and aren't going out to shows any longer. Many of the people that would like to see SHM now don't want to have assigned seats in a mega stadium, or pay some 200+e/usd to be on the floor.

They put on an entertaining audio/visual show, if you're into that sort of thing, but it seems like a lot of stars aren't quite aligned the way they were in years past.

I respect the risks they're taking. A place like Ushuaia or Ultra is a fitting setting, but I don't think a new tour could be anywhere near as successful as 10 years ago. All that said, I hope people really enjoy the show. This year it will no doubt be an interesting experience. I personally enjoyed one at Ushuaia in 2012. Most likely people will enjoy it this year too. (I'm not attending, I'm visiting later in the season)

As much as this post made me feel old, you're probably right.

Everyone that was into that sound at that time probably moved onto something else.

SHM changing sound is how they can stay relevant but they're at a bit of an in-between stage I guess.

If anything...they probably stayed away a little too long to capitalise on what they had.

Agree that the 2012 crowd has moved on to other things...but they managed to get high profile collabs with The Weeknd, Sting, ASAP Rocky and in the UK some radio play and I just don't think the material has been strong enough.

Ive seen Axwell and Ingrosso and Angello on his own and woulden't rule out seeing them together at some point, but it doesn't feel like a 'must see' at the moment
