there's a fair amount of movement going on again for ibiza 2020. some clubs change little, some a lot! it's too early to openly discuss on here what I heard, but a few exciting moves included.

not sure if anything gets announced before the new year still, but january is set to be an interesting month!

it's a very sinister trend... festies are fcking everything up. everyone i know in music is saying the same thing

sinister in what way? It's either have these brands and big weekenders or not have them at all, cos they're not into old skool season long stuff like before. the same way Dj led parties superseded promoter parties in the late 90s and early 00s, the same way that concept just is very difficult these days and so a wknd takeover or special one off is preferable.

funnily enough. I don't know anyone in or out of music who is saying this regarding festivals f***ing everything up, least of all in ibiza. Festivals are still looking to ibiza for many of the brands and hype that they use as part of their festival.

As has been the case since day one and always will be......if clubs/promoters are doing wknd takeovers with brands and not 20 week residencies.....then it's cos that is how things work or the only way they can pull these things off.

Ibiza is always last to the party...

haha. this made me chuckle.

whether you mean this in one way, that it Is literally the last to the party.....to get it....then there are too many examples to dispute this.

the other way I read this is that being last to the party is generally a good indicator of what's hot or not, so no bad thing.

By the way, when you start turning up on time or early to the party yourself....it's time to have a word!! ;-)

2 issues here: global generic impact of festies & the unique ibiza microcosm but the 2 are linked. Because daytime is more and more where it's happening, this will hit the tills at clubs which open after dark, because a lot of punters simply won't push on through. On a more global level, kids are going out less and less and basic economics means they are saving up towards one-off events instead. It suits authorities to pen them into daytime things they can more easily keep an eye on and which are less likely to get complaints from parents, neighbours etc. On a creative level festies are a crude numbers game which have to pack em in on one-off events, meaning more djs, shorter set times, less patience and diminished quality. Any dj who is primarily an artist and not a businessman is uncomfortable about this because this has naff all to with the roots and if you strangle the roots, then where exactly do tomorrow's outstanding djs come from?

I hope not wanted to go Solomon Sunday then pyramid.... Or I may go shadows on the Friday instead

It will be interesting what Amnesia do with Friday's this year. What did they put on last season after Luciano ended mid-season? I actually can't recall...
