saw sven was on for ONE HOUR at heart. should have sent these 5 or 6 vinyls over with the taxi, not worth getting off the sofa :)

He can be shouting whatever he want, I like the music and a cold beer.

er, ok.. what's your point caller?

*as for JV's point about who's pushing things forward? loadsa folk - off top of head Joy Orbison, Gatto Fritto, Tim J Fairplay, Prins Thomas, Etienne Jaumet, Ripperton, Sottofett, Hieroglyphic Being, Red Axes, Mushrooms Project... (or tune into Rinse or NTS - am way out of touch). If you're referring to big venue dance 'bands' of the 90s I think those days are dead in the water, because nobody really has the charisma or the crossover appeal anymore to make any money so the new niche scenes are only going to ever get much live exposure at multi-lineup festies.

I think the most interesting music now has slowed right down tempo-wise, partly because there is an older crowd who want things less hectic and partly because that area hadn't really been explored by producers since the 80s and new producers are finding you can do an awful lot with slow sleazy analogue basslines #justsaying

I know IBZ is always hamstrung in how far it can push the leftfield because it has seasonal commercial pressures to worry about, but I think the tendency is to play it too safe with familiar brand names that won't scare the horses... so if the likes of KINK, Helena Hauff and Peggy Gou do break through with the tourists, then I see that as a good thing

There are obviously some great electronic producers around (I dunno... in the last 10 years for me it's been Scuba and Trentemoller), but, yeah, I am referring to electronic acts that present themselves as bands rather than DJs, because many people still want to watch that. I guess Trentemoller does this now (his live act is amazing IMO), but his show is mostly not dance music.

the selections of djs for partying changed, and this was clear a bit from last year but this year its so obvious. and its okay because this is how it is. & am sure that the sound of cocoon will be different in pacha than @ amnesia, so its not only the djs & the timings. the new cocoon will be completely different than the cocoon am used to.

I agree with you that the sound of Cocoon will change a little at Pacha mainly i would say simply because there is no club room as opposed to Amnesia where Cocoon typically put on the more "pure" techno artists (IE: Ben Klock, Rodhad, Radioslave, etc) but there is certainly enough techno on offer at Pyramid I would say. I mean you have the likes of Len Faki, Charlotte De Witte, Paganini, Luigi Madonna, and Helena Hauff spread across the schedule w/Ben Klock on the opener. I think the only reason that Afterlife can allow itself to even be techno heavy is the presence of a second room in the terrace or whatever it is called now, i forget at the moment. If you look at Afterlife lineups in the theatre where Tale of Us mainly will play, I wouldn't call many of those lineups "techno" heavy. Then there is Resistance of course which have a few dates which are on more techno heavy and some which are not. Mainly my point is that i dont think there is any real less of a presence as far as techno representation on the island than in the past, so I'm perhaps I'm just viewing it differently than you but with the exception of some shuffling around of where the artists/djs will play, I dont see there being so much change.

On another note... Eden opening party last night put on by terminal4 Crew was
Awesome.

It reminded me of a smaller scale of Carl Cox revolution at Space.

2pole, Christian Smith, Jay Lumen and particularly Fatima Hadji blew the roof of the place.

Great to see Eden full and it has been one of my best nights in Ibiza over the last 7 years musically.

One of the guys sorted me and the wife out some backstage which helped with staying most of the night in comfort.

Defo would recommend if this goes while season. Great techno.

Just catching up on the last 10 pages.

Love underworld, seen them in privelege around 2009-2011 and it was amazing il never forget it.
However am I the only underworld fan that really doesn't like born Slippy? Played out and just annoys me tbh

Also, 'ket heads in white socks' gave me a laugh aha

a 60 year old bloke (still) running around a stage shouting about lager.

whatever man. some of us moved on.

To be honest they slipped off my radar after Rez. That was the right record for the right time...and right doves

contrary to last week when ushuaia opening went until 2am, I think this week they might close at midnight. but as pointed out a few days ago, over at hi it could then turn into a long session...
