here is some real gossip: mike & claire manumission are back - see the post I just made in the lío thread.

actually, let me copy in here too:

ALL ABOUT EGO
From 7th of June to 27th of September
LÍO IBIZA

“Surrealism – in particular with Salvador Dali –
was all about EGO.
It was all about extreme individualism.” Alejandro Jodorowsky

This year marks the 20th Anniversary of The Manumission Motel, and Mike & Claire are celebrating it with a feature film documentary that will cover an auspicious return to the island of Ibiza with their bold new creation EGO, every Thursday night at Lio.

“Manumission started in a 400-capacity gay club in Manchester, and it was a celebration of the individual, a freedom to be who you were or wanted to be. This is very much what EGO will be about.” Mike Manumission.

“The after-midnight show will be a risqué interpretation of William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet played out by exquisite pole dancers, contortionists and actors to a live soundtrack by the shows musical director Mr Doris.” Claire Manumission.

SHAKESPEARE IN VOGUE · THIS SUMMER IS ALL ABOUT EGO

As the creative force behind MANUMISSION Mike and Claire had the fortune to work & play with some of the worlds greatest DJ’s and artists, this summer Mr Doris will invite a selection of these prestigious friends to join him on the decks at EGO.

FLIRT WITH FREEDOM · FREE YOUR MIND · FREE YOUR SPIRIT · FREE YOUR LIBIDO · FREE YOUR INHIBITIONS · FREE YOUR BODY · FREE YOUR SOUL · FREE YOUR EGO

Brilliant, thanks Stivi - I've seen lots of news this week but none that I'm too bothered about

if I remember your taste correctly, the news coming in about 90mins could be of interested. but then again I can't remember your 2018 ibiza dates neither so...not sure.

I'm out from May 31st until June 7th and July 28th - 4th August this year as things stand.

The events I'm definitely doing on both trips will be Solomun+1 and Cocoon, although I'm also interested to see what the Pyramid Monday lineups are like also for the later trip. The opening party IMO is superb so I'll be there for that too.

in this case you can ignore the news but you will see for yourself later anyway.

that pyramid line up for 18th June is quite impressive!

Is that a sign of things to come for Pyramid? if so, Mondays at Amnesia are still alive!

What i find interesting, is that this seems like a superior version of Hyte (being techno based) but just with the names that Hyte couldn't get. Just off of initial couple of lineups it looks as if Amnesia will not miss Cocoon at all. Now perhaps the reason that Hyte couldn't get these names was because Maceo had Mosaic going and now with Cocoon moving to Pacha brought some changes to their model which freed up the time of some others. Cocoon is still top of the food chain to me, but at least from my tastes musically, I may not hesitate to put Pyramid right behind it from initial look.

Pyramid pulling in the big guns... will they be able to sustain those sort of lineups all season though?

At least when big brands like Cocoon etc had a slightly less than average night they could rely on that brand to pull in punters. Pyramid might not be able to do the same. Looks a very promising addition to the island so far though.

good news for lio if sticking to dj name on thursday:quality music & a combo dc10(depend on djs from 5pm to midnight, hoping it wont be regular dc10 djs we use to see b4 midnight :D) + Pyramid too on monday (I guess i ll do all pyramids parties along my stay)

This is what I was thinking, aside from the Solomon type nights (which cocoon also had) how do these Pyramid nights pull more than Cocoon did? Lineups all look brilliant so far, I’ve dropped lucky on the opening party when I’m over as I love Ben Klock but just don’t see how they get more numbers than Cocoon did over a season!

I suppose with us still having Cocoon on a different day we shouldn’t be moaning and should just lap up the increased choice/variety.....

House news to change :D
Kenny Dope at Pure Pacha Paris by night Opening may 26

Even my kind of music that sat with 2 frenchies, Erick hagleton & Bob sinclar(didnt like his set closing 17, it was ok, a little bit commercial ), it should be Elrow opening .
In Paris the week b4 at a club where a good contact is the organizer(he brought dj sneak there when i was in ibz last year, sven C cox & so on) but no more parties.

Time will tell. While it’s not fashionable to say it here, for a lot of people the cocoon brand and offer became stale and the club was too big for it. It was quite apparent in terms of attendance numbers over the last two years. That isn’t to say I haven’t had good times there, Sven and Dixon were electric last year but it was by no means packed as it used to be. Cocoon experienced this before but came back, it hasn’t always been rammed by any stretch. This time they have moved venue to achieve a come back. In the meantime, pyramid look to be offering shorter sets, more variety and a fresh approach to Monday’s at amnesia. Time will tell if they can build a brand behind the concept and beat the dc10 competition - which is what it is. In the meantime cocoon look to a new venue, new concept and competition with the Jamie jones boreathon
