I see Judge Jules is playing a few dates in Sankeys....wonder if this means he wont be doing his weekly event?

I went to the opening party last year. It was a pretty good party and still felt in some ways like the old Jules. However feel Jules time as a full residency is coming to an end. Think some of the weeks struggled during the season and the calibre of the guest were not up to what they previously were.

I hope I am wrong as when The Judge is in his grove he is awesome. Much prefer him paired with the likes of Marco V, Ferry, Halliwell and Richard Durand than your Edm artists.

Im not 100% of that but I'll continue on with the guessing and say maybe a Drumcode main room and Do Not Sleep terrace link up. Established label with an up and coming party from last year would think can definitely fill the club especially in its last year. It would also be a good variation, they can even flip rooms everyone once in awhile if Adam feels like playing his easy listening sets he does ever so often.

I am just massively hypothesing here but having been to some of the Drumcode nights in London it does suit a multi room venue in terms of the sound. You could have Adam doing the main room, a more intense techno room with the truesol lot doing another room. I think the label is huge at the moment with a massive variety of artists associated too. Look at the line up for junction 2. I understand there are other promoters involved.

Honest question, but how relevant is Judge Jules these days amongst a younger age group? Wouldn't think there would be a lot of new people coming through that would want to see him, could be wrong.

I'm interested in Dirk's question here too!

I don't mind admitting it but Jules, Rampling, Fontaine, Essential Mix amongst others were a big influences into my gateway into electronic music when I was young. (showing my age here) ...

Obviously now with podcasts, online streams etc the BBC isn't quite as big a platform but i'm intrigued to know how much it now serves.

I think a lot of these DJs just failed to move with the times unfortunately.

I think judge jules doesn't have any relevance anymore at all to young people.

BBC essential mix on the other hand is still an extremely important portal I think. I mean look at who's featured nowadays, it's all very upfront and a few of the legends thrown in for good measure.

In 2015 Seb Fontaine had his best year since 2002. Seen him 4 times and he was amazing each and everytime and also listened to few sets throughout the year too.

Judge Jules also plays a few great sets each year and I wouldn't rule him out just yet. Yes your right he doesn't have anywhere the size of appeal like he used to and only relevant to the older generation. But that generation still hold him in high regard.

Haven't heard anything from
Danny Rampling for an age.

I did rince that essential mix he done with dave Lambert years ago. Spirit I think they were called. Worth a listen still..:) Other than that. ."trumpet" is all I can remember

His trumpet years were his best imo.
Before he went full on trance.

I still think a lot of people underestimate just how difficult it is to make a 15-20 week residency in Ibiza work. I'm no expert but for example..... Is Drumcode a brilliant label and is Adam Beyer a top class DJ? Yes. But headlining a weekly party, getting other DJs to play that are probably locked into other contracts, having the competition of other Ibiza nights etc. That's damn hard and the likes of Sven, Coxy etc have to work damn hard for years to get that kind of weekly pull.

This. Totally.

Some of the shouts on here for Label X or DJ Y havinbg their own night have been a little bit ludicrous.

Am 22 and know a lot about the dance scene over the years from research and listening. If I asked my mates who judge jules is they would say wouldn't have a clue so I 100% agree with you.

I massive influence with me and would love to see him play in Ibiza but 90% of time better options to go else where

I don't really stress myself with if anybody thinks a Djs are a big deal or relevant anymore.

I know what I like and Judge Jules is still a good night out.

In Ibiza you can find place for just about most tastes and I will stick to what I like. That's the beauty of it.

I am a massive Carl Cox fan and always have been. However in 1998-2002 you wouldn't say he was a big deal because most of the clubbing population were still heavy into trance and getting people to go into the techno tent wasn't as easy as now.

Agree that Jules isn't relevant at all nowadays and what is more - he never was for anyone but the Brits. Try asking even older Spanish, Italian or German music fans and IF they know him at all they will not have heard him live ever. I guess audience at judgement sundays always was some 99% Brits, the 1% being waiters and cleaning staff.

Having said that - of course it makes absolute sense to book him for this 88/89 party, good idea, that's what this party is all about.

Why so serious?!

I think folk are just killing the loooong time until concrete announcements are made and putting conversation out there!?! This is a gossip thread and that's what we're all doing after all :D
