Amnesia

Date attended – 29th June (Cream)

Pluses:

Repeated use of ice cannon.

This is gona sound ridiculously ignorant (and am embarrassed to ask)...
But what exactly is the ice cannon?!
Can you tell I'm an ibiza virgin?!

i aint been before but i belive its just a cannon on the dance floor which blows out massive amounts of steam whatever it is to make your night a good clubbing experience

The ice cannon is a big megatron that shoots dry ice out into the crowd at regular intervals, generally just as a tune kicks in! It's highly recommended!

Amnesia

Date(s) attended:

Thursday June 29 & Thursday July 6 (Cream)

Pluses:

The music - Ferry Corsten, Axwell were amazing, Paul Van Dyk played the greatest set I've ever heard
The atmosphere - The electricity of Cream is unmatched
The dancers - Best on the island
The Megatron - no explanation needed

Minuses:

The overcrowding - no club is more over capacity
The prices - 8 euros for water and 15 for a drink is still ridiculous

Eden

Date(s) attended:

Sunday June 25 & Sunday July 2 (Judgement Sundays)

Pluses:

The music in both rooms - Great trance in the front room, terrific funk in the back
The production - the dj booth had been moved to the end of the club nearest the entrance and a stage set up.
The electricity - San Antonio's busiest night and the crowd is always up for it

Minuses:

None - I could be biased because I'm friends with Jules or bc I was VIPed, but I don't have any.

Es Paradis

Date(s) attended:

Tuesday June 27 & Tuesday July 4 (Tidy Boys)
Friday June 30 & Friday July 7 (Pukka Up)

Pluses:

Pleasantly busy - both nights were very busy, Tidy busy in both rooms
The music - Dirty Rotten DJs upstairs at Tidy were unreal, Pukka Up's house music is spectacular

Minuses:

The music - hard house is still big and I have no idea why

Pacha

Date(s) attended:

Wednesday, June 28 (Subliminal Sessions)

Pluses:

The interior - still one of the nicest clubs I've ever been to
The VIP area - snuck onto there and in an hours time, the doorman thought we belonged up top
The music - Morillo is amazing, despite the tribalness of his set

Minuses:

The prices - just like Amnesia, I think these are the only 2 clubs that charge this much
The music - Jorge Jaramillo wasn't my taste and, like I said, the difference in how Erick plays in Ibiza and anywhere else
The power - went off 4 times before Morillo got on, but hardly he can be blamed for it

Space

Date(s) attended:

Sunday June 2 (We Love Sundays)

Pluses:

The atmosphere - It is not the most legendary club for nothing
The setup - The terrace is something else and the rooftop was a very nice chilled area
The airplanes - Wouldn't be space without them
The free drink - If you have to buy tickets, at least they give you a free drink

Minuses:

The music - Guetta was really good, but played very different from what I thought he would (terraza set)
The rules - no cameras allowed although he didn't check my pocket for some reason
The crowd - some people were just so off their head they couldn't speak

SPACE

DATES ATTENDED - CARL COX OPENING on tuesday 18th july

PLUSES - Carl Cox tribal warm up set, carl cox + danny tenaglia going back to back, dancing on the famous terrace for the first time. Got in for free.

MINUSES - Drinks way too expensive. Only bad word to say.

EL DIVINO

DATE ATTENDED - CLUB AZULI on wed 19th july

PLUSES - Great dj's, great crowd ie no english chav's / ****ers at all anywhere in the building, great view of the town on the terrace, great attmosphere.

MINUSES - None at all, would reccomend to everyone to go to the club azuli night

PRIVILEDGE

DATE ATTENDED - MANUMISSION OPENING on friday 21st july

PLUSES - Most surreal clubbing experience ever, actually quite good music

MINUSES - Full to the brim of english cocks in football shirts. No one dancing just standing around, lack of room, long queues to get in.

EDEN

DATE ATTENDED - IBIZA ****ING ISLAND on sat 22nd july

PLUSES - Got free entrance, good quality upfront + credible house music

MINUSES - Full of 15 year olds, no one appreciated when a tune like 'Electro' or 'The Rub' came on apart from me and my mate, as they were all too young.

Back yesterday so here goes with tongue firmly in cheek!

Wed 19th July

La Troya at Space

Pluses: Music, Music, Music - best all thro my stay!; Insomina at the end - dunno how but it worked a treat!; Great crowd and atmosphere; Started with a bang; Superb and beautiful stage dancers...boys and girls; Learnt not to get any gear out in front of large Space bouncer,

Minuses: Gear nicked by said large Space bouncer before it had been touched - 60 euros down the swanny; Crossing the floor to go for a pee took forever; Far too much too soon; Really wanting to speak to people but unable to get anything remotely sensible to come out of my mouth;

Thurs 20th July

Renaissance at Pacha

Pluses: Met lovely Spanish girl in the funky room and lovely English girl in the main room, seeing Sasha getting pot bellied as well (ha ha!); Funky room - always love it;

Minuses: Sasha using a laptop, music bit samey and frankly boring; Pacha lacked any atmosphere at all.

Friday 21st July:

Made in Italy at Amnesia

Pluses: Gorgeous Italian chicks wall to wall, love Amnesia as a club, finding a dodgy taxi at the end.

Minuses: Arrogant Italian dudes, that bloody Italian football chant, getting far too messy; going out when I didn't really want to; the silly stage show half way through (really pretenious and annoying), the taxi queue; drink prices - 8 euros for a (small!) water, music too hard (not a vocal or melody in site), no real party atmosphere just lots of spannered people dancing like Sonic the Hedgehog gone crazy!!!

ps - I'm half Itallian!

Sat 22 July:

Hed Kandi @ El Divino

Pluses: Music a welcome relief after the last two nights; El Divino is always beautiful; No Italian football chants! Always know what you're getting with Hed Kandi and they never fail to deliver quality happy, clappy house.

Minuses: Way, way too hot inside, no air con or fans = very dangerous!, Borders on chavvy; Last hour music was a bit flat; Could have really gone to town with some classics but didn't, Got blown out by lovely English girl I met at Pacha (above) - boyfriend again!

Sun 23 July:

WLS @ Space

Pluses: Brilliant Terrace atmosphere as always; temparature in the backroom; great crowd; Closing the terrace with Depeche Mode "All I ever wanted..."; drawing comfort from seeing everyone was as battered as me; Really friendly crowd from so many nationalities around the world (but I have to say IMHO - the Brits made it so friendly and such an unpretentious giggle); Bar staff were the best and friendliest so far for me (which hasn't always been the case) and finally, big Space bouncer referred to in La Troya section saying "Thank you for coming" on the way out - now that is really unbelievable - have they had a crash course in customer service this year!;

Minuses: Getting blown out three times out of three - not good for the confidence! Finding the lovely Spanish girl I met in Pacha has a (very big!) boyfriend (even worse for the confidence); Running out of cash before the end of the terrace and having to sponge of off mates, hearing "Put your hands up for detroit" at least three times on the terrace in the same day; in fact music overall wasn't the best I've heard there, just didn't quite seem to hit the heights it could have done but maybe I was just too knackered by then; being too tired to make it through the night.

Monday - day off!

Amnesia

Date(s) attended:
July 21 - Made in Italy

Pluses:
The shows on stage, some really cool acrobatic stuff.
The dry ice.
Lee Burridge playing 'Flylife'
Live performances.

Minuses:
The 7 Nation Army chants.
Getting a taxi out of there....what a nightmare.

El Divino

Date(s) attended:
July 23 - MN2S

Pluses:
Tony Humphries set.
Getting in for free, despite not being on the list....and thats about it.

Minuses:
The vibe....no girls in the club...everyone seemed to be in their own click....being told that I coulnt take pictures

Pacha

Date(s) attended:
July 24 - Release Yourself
July 26 - Subliminal

Pluses:
where do you start??? Still the best club in the world. Everything was great, music, vibe, people....and MUSIC, Sanchez, Morillo and Behrouz absolutely rocked the place.

Minuses:
No ice cannon for Sanchez, only once or twice for Morillo.

Space

Date(s) attended:
July 23 - We Love Sundays...
July 26 - In Bed

Pluses:
Tom Novy's set.....I only stayed Sunday for that, and then went to In Bed; only stayed on the sunset terrace. I never liked the inside of the club (except the red room) and I am not a fan of the new "terrace"
Barbara Tuckers live performance....Tune Brothers and Ulysses set.
Great vibe on Sunday.

Minuses:
I guess complaining about crowds is pointless, but it was mobbed on Sunday, barely could move.....once we found real estate, we did not move.

song from 2004 - there is a whole thread on it in the music forum. it was so frustrating.....and i thought it was funny at the made in italy party, but by the second day, i couldnt stand it anymore.

Belated entry:

DC-10

July 10 and July 17

Pluses
Wicked sets from Magda, Loco Dice, Fabrizio and Tanya Vulcano among others.
Vibe as good as ever. Crowd rocked to tunes like Orchidee, Seeing Through Shadows and Miracel Whop (my tune of the year so far). Loved the driving, bassy sound of DC-10 this year.

The second time we went, some English people got a Twister mat out and put it down right in the middle of the terrace, which was packed at the time, and a couple of girls assumed some positions. They only did it for a few minutes but it was cool, a kind of flash-mobbing thing; the bouncers never knew about it.

Minuses:
Italians doing their Seven Nation Army chant. Again. (In fact, put that down as a default minus for every club I went to.)

Home of La Troya at Space

July 12

Pluses: Oliver rocked the new terrace. Probably the best set I've ever heard him play. Highlights included the original version of Plastic Dreams over that Funktion 1 system. Marvellous.
Inspired decision to have flamenco dancers on podiums in front of the DJ booth.

Minuses: None. I was in a very, very good mood that night.

Matinee and WLS at Space

July 15 and 16

Pluses: Lumping these two in together as they represent the best in daytime dancing (apart from Bora Bora, of course). Great tunes and atmosphere.

Minuses: No pass-out for We Love because the guest list blag we managed to pull off didn't run to wristbands and lazy, duff, mixing from Smokin' Jo.

Chillout areas! AWESOME!!
Paul Taylor/Ripping up the Retro Room. Totally Off tap!!
Sound System.
Sasha, Sanchez and Morillo!!

Downers:
Stupid glass bottles water!
Crowded all over the place, managing to walk from one side of the club to the other was a mission, accidently walking into V.I.P areas
Morillo's set took ages to start. 4 in the morning!!!
People barging through the dance floor.
