Noisy Neighbours
Residents in the area near the Cova Santa restaurant complained about a party which they claim went on for fifteen hours between midday on Saturday and 3.00 o"clock in the morning on Sunday and the extremely loud music which was emanating from the premises. One of the residents, a Sr Bonet, his wife and two children aged ten and three, were forced to take medication for the headaches which they suffered after so many hours of solid noise and they eventually went to A&E because they had suffered panic attacks. Another resident measured the sound from the inside of his home on his iPhone and claimed that the noise reached eighty-six decibels but it rose to one hundred outside. He has lived in the area for ten years and said that it seemed as though the party was going on inside his house. Their small child, who was suffering from an ear infection, cried all day long with the pain which was aggravated by the loud music and they were not able to leave their property as a car had parked in front of it. The Local Police were called to remove at least eleven badly parked cars and the Guardia Civil was controlling the traffic. Many of the vehicles were parked at least half a kilometre away from the scene of the action and as the day wore on, raised voices added to the cacophony of the sound system and fights broke out as many of the party goers were inebriated.
The proprietor of Cova Santa is the Amnesia discotheque and a spokesman, David de Felipe, said that the place had been closed for about six years while alterations were being made to comply with local bylaws, but these have now been completed and therefore they have reopened. De Felipe declined to answer whether the kind of party which took place over the weekend was going to be a permanent feature from now onwards, but he did say that he felt that the neighbours were over-reacting and that the music had ceased at midnight.
