whats the advantage of bittorrent?
Right... Bit Torrent is a different animal altogether.
First, you download and install a Bit Torrent "client". This is basically a program that moves data around.
Then you go to any of various websites that catalogue "torrents" that are out there in the wild. When you find something you want, you usually click on a link and download a very small torrent file and open it in your Bit Torrent client.
Now comes the fun part. Using the instructions found in this torrent file, your torrent client will connect to other people downloading and uploading this same file. So, you'll start downloading and simultaneously uploading the file you want. No need to share a folder on your computer... you're already doing your part by passing bits of the file along as you download it yourself.
When it's done, the program will show you that it's finished.
UTorrent is the best Bit Torrent client program out there. Demonoid and Btjunkie are the best websites.
It's better for albums and large files because you're downloading from multiple sources, as opposed to Soulseek where you're downloading from just one other person (whose Internet connection might be slow). You usually won't find single songs through Bit Torrent, but you'll find a whole album packed together.
