Hyte

I think the sitdowns are cool! It seems like fun but can get old fast so maybe only a few times.

Kinda shocking to hear Maceo's mixing not being as good. I did like a couple of the sets I heard last year...

Maceo's mixing is very good, he just plays it safe and sticks to what he knows. He's one of the best producers on the planet right now snd that's what I care about. You just can't see him too often because his sets sound similar, which is expected when you have about 20 of your own hits to cycle through.

I find this thread to be really interesting because it sort of goes back on the old dj versus producer topic, I agree as several others have said here that Maceo's production is just amazing, from the Conjure series, to remixes, and so forth, but I have seen him dj several times over the last year and never really enjoyed a set all too much, so I think @stivi calling him limited is really a very fair description while his popularity is huge I think it is mostly based upon the tracks he produces and that shoudnt take anything away from his talent, I just feel there are a lot of better djs out there

I didn't make it to hyte myself on wed night, but lots of friends did. same story as the week before basically - lots of good music, but only enough people for one room really...

The fact is Cocoon will always be COCOON...it's the real vibe, the real feeling of Ibiza....so others can try but Amnesia has his own #1.
Hyte can be good ok...and I trust it will..but I think it's going to be hard making better than Cocoon as a tech party.

I was at hyte on wednesday. I spent most of the night on the terrace where pan pot, henrik schwarz and chris liebing all played great sets. It wasnt the busiest ive ever seen amnesia, the terrace was the busier of the 2 rooms, but hyte its a night with plenty of potential and great music. Hopefully the crowds start to support it. Wednesdays a tough night with paradise and we love now all on!

my friends say that at first the terrace was busier, but that towards the morning, when maceo played the main room, this one was busy and the terrace was then almost empty towards the end.

but yes, I agree it's gonna be even tougher starting from next week when paradise and enter are back.

Didn't enjoy hyte yesterday.. Personally.. Vibe wasnt there and set times & rooms seemed wrong. Highlight = dettmann other than that wasn't for me. Will go later in the season. :)

This is going as expected in some ways then! But as many have reminded me, MusicON main room was pretty empty the first few seasons, but everyone says it now works (I've not been since August last year though). I get the music cross over between Paradise and HYTE, but crowd-wise I'm guessing Paradise is 80-90% British and HYTE is 75%+ Spanish/Italian etc. Isn't it more Paradise and We Love that will be fighting for the same "people".....

Also.... just to add, Wednesday is a damn hard night isn't it when you look at the last few seasons (Wisdom/Gerber at Pacha etc). This is pure guess than me having any facts.... but a lot of weekenders will (obviously) never be there for a Wednesday, and so much on Mon/Tues and Thurs/Fri etc.... that Wednesday does get forgotten.

I'm just looking at their July 15th date. Very little "star power" to pull the less-informed crowd there.

I think a night without either Dice or Maceo is a brave move for them.

Before anybody gets on their high-horse, I'm not for one minute questioning the talent of guys like Pan-Pot, Rodhad, Liebing & Neumann - all acts that I love.

Just think, whilst the music may be blinding, that they will struggle to sweep-up those numbers of undecided clubbers who merely follow the crowd. That pocket of customers can go from making a night mediocre to memorable in my experience. In terms of atmosphere more than anything else.

as usual mate, a well thought out and valid point

This Wednesday was my last Ibiza night out and i went to Amnesia. Wasn't feeling Pan-Pot or Henrik, but Marcel was damn good so I ended up just staying in the club room, and there was no way i was gonna miss Maceo.

I couldn't recognize any of the tracks the played and except for Conjure Balearia at the end and Sordid Affair right after that. I think he was testing out a lot of new shit. Anyways, I didn't sense any mixing issues and thought the 2.5 hour set was great.

How the hell do you cure the ibiza blues?? im like so depressed right now, never felt this way after a vacation

Think I'm going to stick to september for Ibiza from now on, usually never go away this early in the year for any summer holiday. Got the whole summer to endure now!

You need at least 2 trips in Summer - one at the start and one towards the end. Sticking to one is next to impossible to endure if the British Summer is cloudy and/or you don't live near the sea !

Agree with the above. The only way to deal with ibiza Blues is to know when you're at the end of the runway.... You have another trip planned soon! Without sounding a co-ck not sure how I'd handle just one trip a year. Depends just how much you're into it I suppose. The last flight out after closing is usually OK. Closings give your closure.

Easy for you guys to say! I have zero vacation time left and it's more expensive later on in the season! What a fantasy island filled with underground DJs who are treated like the mainstream, as they have their faces all over billboards and such, with girls who are hot as hell, and people who are totally up for the music! Let's not forget the tropical island setting too. I think I enjoyed myself too much...the last few days i couldn't even get up before 6 PM as I partied hard the night before.

I regret missing some beaches and wasn't able to do Formentera cuz the ferry out for it was so early in the morning. Usullay I'd be coming back in my hotel by then all f***ed up lol. Next I would purposefully miss parties and give gaps so i could enjoy it more, or just go hard, but then what's the point of even going out??
