the smallest 5 star hotel (only 13 rooms) is expected to open in july.....

The head of the Dorchester Hotel Group was in Ibiza last week praising the tourist template that Ibiza has.

The president of the group, which includes 5-star hotels in London, Paris, Beverly Hills and Milan, praised the diversity of Ibiza and said that the island should continue catering for the package holidaymaker whilst also trying to capture the slightly more affluent tourist.

When asked if his group would ever own a hotel in Ibiza, he said that it would be unlikely due to the short season that Ibiza experienced.

He advised other hoteliers present that they should concentrate on medium to small sized establishments that offered a high class of service.

during the last days the press has been talking about the new golf course in benimussa..... and the 5 star hotel with 450 beds they will do just next ! !

i bet some people thought the title of colin butts' article, san antonio - the regeneration, was exaggerated..... regeneration? bah!!..... well, there you go.....

Matutes Fights Back

The businessman Abel Matutes, head of the Matutes Group who are building the golf course in Playa den Bossa, hit back at claims that his company is making any benefits from the road building taking place.

There had been criticism from some sides that the group was going to take advantage of the vast amount of earth that had been dug up to make the roads.

Matutes denied this, and claimed that far from benefiting, the company in charge of the road building had in fact been using their land for storage purposes, which would equate to around 1.8 million euros in rent.

He also denied that there would be a hotel built near the course, saying that Ibiza did not need any more hotel beds; just to improve the ones that are already here.

He also repudiated any involvement in the proposed San Antonio course.
 
Hotel Gran Ibiza tentatively opens October 30th. too bad - i'll be there aug/sept and was thinking about staying there if it was open.

Luxury Hotel

Local businessman, Alberto Torres, last week presented his project
that is set to change the face of tourism in Santa Eulalia.

Torres is the man behind the new hotel and spa "Aguas de Ibiza Spa & Resort", which is due to open in 2008.

The project will consist of a resort on over 6,500 square meters of land,
and will house what is hoped will be one of the three best Spas in Europe.
The 5-star hotel will have 110 luxury rooms, a giant swimming pool,
gardened areas, a business centre, an events hall and a roof-top pool.


where is it exactly ?
hopefully at a nicer place than the fenicia :? :?:

Mirador Opens

Thursday saw the opening of Ibiza Town's first five-star hotel.

El Mirador, in Dalt Vila, is a thirteen bedroom hotel
which will offer the ultimate in comfort to its guests.

The hotel was designed by the prestigious Ibizencan designers, Vivienda,
and blends an original sixteen century design with modern comforts
expected from a hotel that in high season will charge
over one thousand euros per night for its suite.

Hotel Delayed

The Ibiza Gran Hotel, the five-star hotel being built close to Botafoch Marina,
is to open next winter, according to an announcement by the owners.

The hotel which was originally due to open this April,
has suffered a series of setbacks and delays over the last two years,
and will not eventually be complete until at least November 2008.

The hotel, which will have cost €60million to complete, will contain 157 suites, as well as a convention centre, a casino, a spa, a business centre, an art gallery and several restaurants and bars.

we just got back from a 7 day stay at El Hotel Pacha - other than a so-so view from our view we loved it.

and its pretty obvious the Ibiza Gran Hotel will not be completed in 2007....hopefully by the summer next year - i think that's feasible even with what was said in the paper.
