damn i cant wait

I was at the We Love opening and really enjoyed Groove Armada...Yeah they are always going to drop tracks like superstylin but what major act doesn't play there own biggest hits, people expect it

thought I should add what I thought of grove armarda, he goes...

I thought they were a completly commercial act, dropping tunes like strings of life (and doing a rewind) and many other tunes I've choosen to forget that have been big over the years... to me it was a bedroom dj set, a set anyone could have put together, no structure, not pattern, no meaning.

They have every right to play their own tunes, it was the rest of their set that also bored me...

What annoyed me even more was the fact they did not look intrested... ffs if you're playing the space terrace you should show at least some emotion...

for this set there was also no supprise, and for previous dj's I've heard close the terrace (lawler, garnier) I've been rocking from start to finish and have been left asking myself what the hell just happened... not this time though... I know other liked grove armarda and I kind of understand why, but for me I ask much much more from a dj, especially a dj closing the space terrace

Groove Amarda

WLS for me was pants except the first DJ we heard around 3pm who really was good - dropping a home made mashup of Morie Kante "Yekka Yekka" with Punjabi MC (not my fav but it totally worked and everyone loved it) - he had the locals enjoying themselves with some latin inspired bits before some other memorable "typically WLS" moments... and then the Chavs arrived!
This was followed by a DJ who played a very disjointed set... seemed to do more for his highly sprung GF behind him than anyone else. So we ditched and headed for Bora Bora.
Arrived back for 8pm and a set list had been put up on the doors to the Discoteche. We realised we'd missed Nic Fanta-tullip - which we'd thought would be closing the terrace.
On with Groove Armada who - i totally agree - looked unhappy! Unlike in September they held back on the rave anthems to start with and i thought they'd seen the error of their ways starting with some light weight groovers (not very WLS) but it stayed there - and didn't go anywhere - crap really - they dropped NewOrder the Beach for a while in what sounded like a prerecorded MegaMix of a few retro tunes - turned me right off - although I love the tune, it's gotta fit.
Kept visiting the discoteche - Aldrin was steadily flying the ship towards a harder place and then went a bit more typical of the inside sound of old more Tribal so we wandered back outside and decided we'd had enough standing around and left around midnight to hear G.A. play Bizzare Inc. Playing with Knives.. it's getting corny all this over played anthem retro pop - get some originality PLEASE.
Friends stayed for James Lavelle and said he played the "B E S T" DJ set they'd ever heard... ended on HigherState of Conciousness and fitted in a few Unkle remixes to boot...
Where has it all gone wrong?! The vibe is what sets this event apart and the venue too.. the locals seemed to be sparse and there were many people who I didn't see as WLS types... the beautiful people & DJ's have been replaced by cheap imposters from Primark!

Another observation - there didn't seem to be anyone taking photos - usualy PhotoShow are everywhere! They had a booth and some people were mulling around.

Looking forward to the return of the Sun (its been bloody overcast since Sunday and still is!! cheer me up!)

who was that dj on from 3pm? he dropped quite a few anthems...yeke yeke, let the music play updated version, sweet dreams and a few others that have slipped away from the grey matter now. I thought he was superb and everyone I was with said the same thing.

dj after him was pants, was extremely bored until GA's set which I actually thought recovered things a lot. I think there is an element of over exposure of them in the last few years and no longer being perceived as cool these days for the sopshisticates of this forum, but in fairness I thought their set was good and not at all as commercial as I had been led to believe it would be (tho I did leave at 11pm!)

Jonathon Ulysses was on at 3pm, he always produces the goods on the terrace on a Sunday afternoon :D
