 plastik will move to mango, underneath the apartments solymar by the egg roundabout, while the bar is knocked down for redevelopment (underground car park, commercial on the ground floor and apartments). it should have been ready for this summer but it has not even been demolished yet so this is the plan to back up..... if the provisional location works well they plan to have both running next year when the building is finished :!:
update taken from the everything ibiza newsletter:

Plastik Moves Home
PLASTIK one of the best and coolest bars on the island is moving home for Summer 2007. Having been a solid feature of San Antonio's famous 'West End' for many years now, this established Ibiza hotspot will be opening it's doors just accross the road from the seafront promenade next to the egg roundabout.
The location of the new PLASTIK is where the bars called Kenya & Mango are currently situated. The new location won't make any difference to the excellent music, top DJ's and chic atmosphere this bar has to offer. This summer, the bar owners have told us they will be opening throughout the daytime as well as at night which is great news for San Antonio's beach sumbathers.
update taken from http://www.plastikibiza.com:

WE ARE MOVING!!!

The Plastik Effect…On the move

For the best part of quarter of a century, the West End of Ibiza’s San Antonio has been held up as illustrating the worst aspects of British Binge Culture. However, the usual sensationalist headlines have been notable by their absence in the last 2-3 years. This is in no small part due to what is begin called ‘The Plastik Effect’, following the opening of Plastik Lounge Bar in 2004.

Plastik’s policy of using alcohol to lubricate an evening rather than drown it and of attracting business by providing a nice environment for nice people, has shown other bar owners in the area than not all young Brits visit Ibiza to get as drunk as possible, as quickly and as cheaply as possible. As such, the West End of San Antonio is slowly changing, with several other bars emulating Plastik and the kind of holidaymaker who brought such a bad reputation to the island, now opting for other resorts such as Faliaraki.

However, despite local government investment in the infrastructure, including pedestrianising most of the West End, there is still a long way to go. Even though CCTV cameras are installed to prevent drug dealing on the street, so-called ‘Looky-Looky’ men still openly ply their trade. Certain bars in the West End still seem to be able to get away with promoting the kind of behaviour that politicians claim to wish to eradicate. Rowdy groups still sit outside bars aggressively screaming football songs, fuelled by cheap alcohol, sitting on cheap plastic seats surrounded by broken glass.

Plastik was nominated for Ibiza Bar of the Year in the prestigious DJ Awards at Pacha. The bar is also championed by the upmarket Pacha and Cool & Hot magazines. Yet despite this, many visitors to the island won’t come to the bar because of the West End’s reputation, limiting their San Antonio experience to the Sunset Strip or Bar M.

Largely for this reason, in 2007 Plastik is moving to Avenida Dr. Fleming, taking over what used to be bars Mango and Kenya (Mango this year, expanding into Kenya in 2008). These bars are located right next to the famous egg roundabout, about 100 metres from Bar M.

This area has not worked for over a decade but Plastik is confident that the new paseo and The Plastik Effect will help regenerate the area in the same way it did the West End. Mango alone is almost double the size of the old Plastik and has much better facilities than the old bar.

Plastik was always very conscious that despite the bar’s excellent reputation, certain aspects of the bar were found wanting (such as the toilets). The premises started as a Levi shop, then became a record shop/internet café/recording studio. When it is reconstructed it will be as a contemporary, purpose-built bar. With Plastik out of the West End/Uptown San Antonio for a summer, it is hoped that other bars will be able to grow in success, helping to change the perception of the area, and also that the powers that be will take further steps to improve the image so that the increasingly upmarket visitor to Ibiza will feel able to visit this part of San Antonio. With all the money that has been spent on improving the roads, it would be a shame if the journey was only made to see the sunset.

It is hoped that the new location of Plastik in Avenida Dr. Fleming and daytime opening will introduce a while new clientele to The Plastik Effect, whilst being close enough both geographically and in spirit to keep existing devotees happy.

The new bar is due to open mid-April.

Im confused.

It says it will be out of the west end for a summer, but also says that it is in mango this year, then Kenya for 08 - which is two summers??

which bit don't you get??

it is moving into mango this year and then from 2008 onwards it will be expanding into kenya also. this is in addition to the the refurbed old location that will be ready in 2008.

This may be a cover story. I heard from a friend somewhere else in Spain that it will be different to Hush. I won't divulge as it may be true and wanted kept secret, the initials are CU
