GHB - Can anyone help?

Hi guys

I wanted to tell you all about my very bad experience over the weekend.

I went to the End for Steve Lawler on Friday night, up until 3.30am I was having a brilliant time, dancing and socialising as normal.

Around 3.30pm I started to feel quite drowsy and nauseus, I sat down with Jon and tried to wait until the feeling passed. It wasn't getting any better and I made my way to the toilets, where I was violently sick a few times. I felt myself getting more and more disorientated when I was in the toilets, I felt really hot, and dizzy. I left the toilets, thankfully Jon had come to look for me, and he took me to the main entrance, where I sat on the steps with my head on my knees.
At this point, my head felt really dizzy, I had no strength in my arms or legs, waves of nausea were sweeping over me every minute. It felt like I was really really drunk, yet my head was clear, Jon was speaking to me and I could hear everything he was saying, I just couldnt lift my head up to answer him.
Thankfully a bouncer saw how bad I was, and took me into the recovery room. I sat in this chair in the recovery room for two hours, still being sick, unable to move, my muscles had no strength in them, I felt so dizzy and disorientated... it was horrible

The door staff at the end were really good, they asked if I wanted to go to hospital, at that point I couldnt move so I said no. I was using all my mind strength to try and "stay with it". I felt myself dropping off a few times, but thankfully Jon and the bouncer made me stay awake.

By 6am I was feeling a bit better so we managed to get a cab home. I still felt really bad, up until about 8.30am in the morning, 5 hours after I originally felt sick, when I began to feel myself come around from whatever it was that had made me feel so terrible :(

I am trying to piece together what happened me in The End on Friday night. I've been clubbing for years and I've NEVER EVER experienced anything like that. It was like being hideously drunk, but your mind is perfectly normal.

Now I know 100% I wasnt drunk, I had about 4 drinks the whole night, defiately not enough to put me in that kind of state.
We did have a couple of pills, but again, the other people who I was with were fine, they had no symptoms like what I had. Plus, I've been doing pills for years, I know what it feels like, I know I couldn't have felt that bad from 2 pills.

The only things I can think happened were.... I had a really really bad reaction to the pills we took, but then again, would it have lasted 5 hours?! Or I could have had my drink spiked :? I described what happened to several people over the weekend and they all agree it looks like something could have been put in my drink. Ive done some research on the net and found this about GHB:

"Many people have bad reactions. These can include nausea, headaches, drowsiness, dizziness, amnesia, vomiting, loss of muscle control, respiratory problems, loss of consciousness, being conscious but unable to move, and death- Especially when combined with alcohol or other drugs."

Almost exactly what happened to me on Friday (obviously not the death bit  )

Has anyone else every experience anything like this before? Can anyone tell me how I can determine what actually happened? If anyone's got any advice of their own experiences it would be much appreciated.

For the record, I'm STILL not feeling right now. Im still getting waves of nausea every now and then, nothing compared to Friday, but I still dont feel right in myself :(

:( Becki sorry to hear of your experience. It happened to me 6 years ago here in Spain. The only difference being was that i came around in a field and had been mugged. It scared the shit out of me !!

I felt dodgy for about 4/5 days afterwards. My doctor did tests and found Barbatuates (?) in my blood (along with the other crap) ie date rape.

Apart from feeling rough, the worst part was feeling that someone took advantage of me and could have done whatever they wanted. It affected me for quite a while. You were lucky John was there.

I hope you feel better soon honey, and remember dont EVER leave your drink (theres too many W***ers out there )

That's awful becki, sorry to hear that. :( hope you're feeling much better today.

Does sound like GHB to me, I took too much once at a friends and I had similar symptoms except I hadn't taken enough to be sick. Likely that your drink was spiked  why people do stuff like this I don't know.

Hi Becki

This happened to my friend on speed dating last year in Newcastle - we had a spate of drink spiking for about 6 months last year in the town. Your symptoms sound exactly the same as hers - luckily she too was with friends who saved the day. The hospital said although the tests were inconclusive that she had probably been spiked with liquid ecstacy judging from her symptoms.

I really hope you feel better soon. This is a dreadful experience for anyone to go through - thank God you were with your guy and that the door staff new what to do.....

This epidemic is getting ridiculous....

things like this certainly seem to be giving the drug scene a bad image.

get better soon

Aww my little Bec

Well you know my opinions on it  You'll never know for sure what happened but I know you and what you're like when you go out and in all the times we've been out you are the one who NEVER loses it. The fact that at 3am you were happy and normal and throwing some shapes and then fastforward 1/2 hour and you were throwing up and had completely lost it is not your normal behaviour :?

As horrible as it was at least you can reassure yourself that you had Jon to look after you and you were in good hands. All I can say is be so careful in future where you put your drink or who you accept drinks from, cos there are some absolute (unts out there who get kicks from doing things like this

I'd guess you were spiked.

I believe it's far more common than people think, although my evidence for this anecdotal.

Thank f**k Jon was there.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Becki,

Firstly I'd like to say it was nice to meet you and your crowd before you got ill.It wasn't until I asked Ferd when you left that he said you'd been ill.Really sorry to hear about what happened.

I have a slightly different opinion to others and think that your illness sounds more like bad pills.I think now more than ever purity of pills is all over the place and as the price has come down more mixtures of all kinds are being sold to clubbers.
There is certainlky a lot of pills being sold that contain little or no mdma and instead they are combinations of Speed and ketamin and god knows what else.
I inadvertatly had some of the above a few weeks ago and never having experienced K or knew what to expect didn't know what hit me it is the one time I have felt out of control of my body and nauseous without really understanding why.

I recently had an experience where I had a night out and didn't feel too good towards the end of the night then for over 7 days following I had stomach cramps and sickness that was worse than any illness I'd ever had for both pain and discomfort.I don't know what I had but it certainly wasn't something I ate or drank.

About 6 months ago I went to Turnmills in a group of 6 and we all had the same pills, 2 people were sick instantly (couldn't even get to the toilet) and 2 others had to leave they were so bad. On the other hand the other 2 including me (lucky on that occasion) were fine so it shows that either we react differently to different chemicals or the pills vary massivly in consistancy?

The thing I keep saying i need to do is buy a test kit and then test what I am taking before I actually do.This is about the safest way of knowing you won't experience what you did and I'm surprised more people don't do it.Perhaps it's just that in the past people trust what they've been sold?

I've posted this before but this is quite a good resource www.pillreports.com

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Ed  ;) Still got to meet you :D

When I spoke to Bec first thing on Saturday morning I thought the same thing, dodgy pills or ketamine. But the fact that the ppl she was with took the same things and were buzzing on them all night, that she was perfectly fine until 3am and I know Bec and she never loses it on a night out. Like you said it could be dodgy pills but everything add up tp something more sinister :?

I'm sure we'll meet eventually :D

You maybe right, especially as you know Becki so much better.
I just can't get my head around someone spiking another persons drink just for spite?
I see why (though don't understand why) people spike a girls drink with Rohipnol because they clearly have a motivation and intent in what they are doing. To do it just to make someone ill and maybe not even see they effects I just can comprehend.

The fact that I work in the Pharmaceutical industry makes me overly cautious about what I do and I guess I am a little obsessive in trying to do everything pre and post clubbing to minimise the damage to my brain body. In fact I was evangelising to Ferd on the merits of Berocca and Dioralyte before and after Friday's night out. 8O

I thought at first they might be really Ketty pills that I just had a bad reaction to, but I've been told apparantly Ket doesn't make you feel sick, plus the effects of Ket don't last for 5 hours! To be honest I just dont know, all I know is I've never felt anything like that before, it didnt feel like a pill at all. You know how you can tell if you've had a certain type of pill, be it mongy, rushy etc. I just felt really tired and woozy. Plus the vomiting... I've thrown up on pills before, but normally you do it once and that's that, you carry on with the night. This was continous vomiting from about 4am til about 8.30am :? And I still feel so detached from everything now.... :? :(

I'm just going to be extra cautious what I do when clubbing in the future.

Could be bad pills IMO.

I've had the same experience.

It's like you go totally stone - nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, really hard to move any muscle in your body. When you sit down it's like totally impossible to get up. I've had crazy hallucinations on top of it too.

And that was on pills + alcohol only.

Did you smoke weed?

I like your thinking, it's def good to be extra-cautious and I look forward to hearing about the merits of Berocca etc ;)

The thing is tho Bec NEVER loses it, the no of times she's been the 'sensible' one and looked after the rest of us at a wkend, as soon as she told me I knew it was completely out of character for her, which makes it even worse cos she's never been in that state before

As to why, there's just some sick ppl out there, I'm just so grateful for Bec that she had Jon with her and the First Aid ppl in The End were really good.

Anyway on a lighter note, looking forward to meeting you on podium in Ministry sometime soon ;)
