Getting searched at the door?

Thank god the bouncer who done search at door in sankeys had massive fingers!!had a little thing in the small little pocket in my jean shorts he felt it it but cudn get his fingers on it , said lucky to me and on I went

The only thing I'd have on me that I shouldn't if I got stopped would be a condom :D
(Note to self, best check the best before date on that before I fly out)

Wasn't what it was 10 years ago. No searches, just a friendly smile at the door on your way in, maybe a very light pat down to make sure you weren't carrying a shooter or a carving knife but apart from that nothing like it is now!

What I honestly don't get is the extremely thorough searches by security at the clubs. Yeah I get it that they should be looking for the guys going in to punt the gear but it shows you how much it has changed in recent years, years ago the parties could never have run without the narcotics. Not a chance, if they were as thorough 10 years ago then the Terrace at Space would've had 1 person on it on Sunday afternoon!

Nowadays, with booze being so expensive and the amount of space given to VIP's it's clearly the case that they can survive off the booze sales rather than packing the clubs full of cabbaged folk not on the booze.

I've been saying it for a few years now but the end is near for the golden age of clubbing. Some may say it's gone already but once Space goes next year then that's it. Once Space goes then I'm retiring as well.

Searches not changed that much in ten years! Never been caught sellotaping two gram bags to the inside of my dark sun glasses, and just walking in. Occasionally get asked to lift the glasses to check the state of my eyes, but with experience I've learnt to raise them straight up over the forehead.

Without turning this into a pro narcotics preach, when I first started going 10 years ago, the Terrace on a Sunday, no joke, about 95% (maybe more) of the folk were at it.

Nowadays, you look around and people are buying drinks with sparklers in them at 100 euros a pop! Fair enough we live in a capatalist society and I love having a few pound notes in my pocket as much as anyone but no doubt the heightened door searches are down to the fact that they'd rather have people spending 300 euros on booze than a tenner on an E and spending nothing other than the door tax.

To be fair, if I owned a gaff and had only 10-12 weeks to make my cash then i'd do the same! Just me being nostalgic I guess!

PS, I'll still be there in a months time

Nah it's deffos tightened up in recent years! Years ago you could walk up to any door with personal use on you and never worry. Even if they caught you they'd let you go if it was only personal. I've piad tax a few times on items stolen but thats to be expected!

Nowadays the searches are far more thorough. Getting more like back here with their searches! Granted the clubs tightened up after the closures a few years ago! Years ago you'd see fold taking sniffs all over the place, off bars and stuff if you were at the afters in Space etc! Last year security hanging around the shitter in Amnesia making sure folk weren't taking a sniff, thats when I realised the game was coming to an end!

The Golden age was years ago pre-internet when clubbing was a big family, parties were secret and your mind was continually being twisted by music nobody had ever heard before - nowadays it's sterile, old timers going through the motions or bored-looking youth standing around inhaling balloons. The only places where you get freedom from stasi security are small underground events or private parties. The other problem is that the old dependency on clubbers is not what it was - there's more lucrative punters coming in and it's less hassle with the law. I predict in 10 years every major club will play pop - that's the sad reality.

Couldn't put it better Paul, far to many people on roids inhaling balloons with aggressive attitudes!

Like I said, the clubs don't need the folk spanked on the E's any more, there's so many people coming through the doors not doing it and smashing hundreds at the bar.

Correct on the music, I say it might even be sooner than 10 years, once the old guard like Carl and Sven go then slowly the parties will die away. It won't be long until its 100 euros in with a minimum spend of 200 on top of that.

Maybe so, but can only speak from personal experience. Last week i was not searched at a place commonly known as being worse in ibiza and people were still stood around doing stuff in the open, around the piss pots etc

No search at ims either, only zoo and that's mostly down to cameras and police being present.

Had far worse searches 10 years ago at space on a number of occasions. Didn't get searched last time we went their opening party. Pot luck.

Lots of reason, some have had a positive effect for the people living in ibiza like 24 hr partying stopping, stricter licenses. You can also factor in the quadrupling of certain things from late summer 2008/or 9.

Anyway it's still the best place in the world to have fun :)

At years gone by, you used to get searched like a rapist - mainly for cameras but now with social media and cameras on phones etc, its changed. Of cousre they are looking at you if you bringing in large amounts of other stuff (and they know what to look for - they need to give a few to the police a night). It was definately the most stringent place in the world back then but now it is a lot more tollerant (like most places internationaly). If you wish to take contraband into any establishment, thats a risk you're willing to take.

i first started going to Ibiza 19 years ago and never once been searched in person or had a car stopped.

stopped 6 times in two weeks
