Getting Robbed In Ibiza!!!!!!!!!

the problem is the cops' hands are tied. petty thieving is effectively tolerated at under 400€ so the police stations are a revolving door of wise street kids who know they'll never see the inside of a jail. if you do get robbed, you'll get asked to fill out a form and then the case will get filed and forgotten about. I've seen it all where I live - pickpocketing, mugglings, assaults, attempted murder. what complicates things is that for political/historical reasons a good % of Spain does not trust the cops anymore than the crims so it depresses the stats whatever the official figures say. I think Ibiza can therefore seem like this holiday paradise for people from the mainland so people probably do let their guard down but we've always just been incredibly lucky.

Yep, never leave anything worthwhile in a car in Ibiza. @stivi always reminds us even when we park up in the middle of nowhere for a hike.

Cars do seem to a particularly Ibiza target, the rest is just standard tourist destination stuff. People should just keep their wits about them and not go off on their own. That said, the adventures one can get up to in Ibiza, sometimes lead to travelling back alone in the early morning. I remember realising I was being followed in the back streets of San An about 6am one morning and had to swing a punch to give myself time to run. Heartbeat didn't slowdown for 20 mins and I was drenched in sweat
 
2006 a friend drank to much in the west end, got seperated and by the time we found him many hours later he had been relieved of all his belongings.

He never left the hotel again that holiday.

Ibiza is a VERY safe place compare to many other places in Europe but if you are drunk , sleeping in the street , falling in the floor or other things like that in the middle of the street yes , you can be robbed , only robbed but like everywhere else
 
They broke into our car yesterday (08.07.2024) and have stolen 2 drones in Punta Galera! Take care and do not park there...looks that people are often stolen there!
If you know something, please call the guardia civil. This beautiful island is unfortunately full of thieves...
