According to forum rules, we're not really supposed to discuss the actions of moderators (the idea being, if you have a problem, PM the moderators)

But I'll say that Olly's departure could be summed up as the result of unnecessary personal attacks on fellow Spotlighters. See Stephen's new sticky thread. 3 others have joined him.
 
ahhh man he was a ledge, but then i could just brush his harsh and sometimes fair comments off and well some people dont take kindly to some of things he would of said :lol:
 
i think it comes down to the fact that this website is a business and a livelihood for some people. If it was literally just a forum then the opinions of people towards each other wouldnt matter so much but I guess as this is part of a bigger picture some discression needs to be adhered to. So whilst Im gutted he and others have gone , I can see why it may have happened , even if I have agreed with many of the things that ended up in bannings.

Anyway we should probably move on
 
That's a bit rubbish...he was genuinely one of the only interesting people on here. :roll:

Great at music debates and a regular contributor of mixes.

I'd take it one step beyond that though, Marc.

There's a line between lively discussion and debate, and being rude.

We users want this little online community to thrive and grow. Not everyone is thick-skinned (and not everyone is used to British humor and norms of interaction) so the ruder people are, the less likely new members are to stick around.

I personally think Olly understood this and had toned it down, but not quite enough.
 
Presumably it was the thread with fusion announcing his opening party visit.

I suppose at the end of the day the site wants a melting pot of people who are likely to buy accommodation and tickets from the spotlight shop.


He will be missed for the more thought provoking input on here. :(

I was just kidding, they belong to someone else, I borrowed them off Olly.

On a personal note, I'll miss Olly. Felt he was a good fella and much of his ranting was born of his frustration with the world in general.

But I guess he did have the capacity to be a little scary to newbies at the same time.

Out of interest, who else caught the bullet? (if we are allowed to discuss:lol:)
 
I missed all the fun! My tuppenceworth is that the person in question was a pompous, arrogant, self important bore who got a kick out of belittling people and the forum will be a better place without him.
