How do dj fee payments get dealt with? I'm effectively self employed and when I issue an invoice the done thing is for it to be paid in 30 days. Is this the same in djing / nightclub industry?

Most of the time, we sign a contract with an artist (usually through an agent), which contains the stipulation of payment. Some agents will expect half to be paid within 2 weeks of the contract sign, the other half two weeks before the event. Some, all on the night. Others, within a couple of weeks of the event.

It's all down to trust between promoter and agent.

Thanx for announced full line up for 14 th july...bedlam and speakbox now offer open bar. Any information for crusher night? Open bar ?

totally depends on the relationship between promoter and agency/artist.

some agencies, if they havent worked with you before and you are maybe just starting out, will request the entire fee (and booking fee) upfront at the point of contract.

the 'usual' deal is 50% 2 weeks before the gig and 50% either at the gig or a week or so after.

some agents are great, others are full of their own self importance.

From Audio Religion Music

'Audio Religion Music haven sadly had to take the decision to remove both Arctic Moon and Indecent Noise from all previously advertised Gatecrasher Ibiza dates. What should have been a great and exciting partnerships has actually been one of the most annoying and frustrating experiences we have had since the companies inception in 2010. Having agreed a total of 9 dates between the two artists back in May and granting the club exclusive use of both artists we have been faced with nothing but excuses and hurdles. Last minute cancelations, ignoring requests to sign artist contracts etc yet the club still sold tickets by telling paying customers our artists and others where coming when they knew otherwise. We have received no payments at all this summer and have intact paid out over £1000 in artist flights to date which we will no doubt not see back.

The level of communication and professionalism shown by Gatecrasher Ibiza in dealing with our artists has been totally unacceptable and we have just found out today via a forum that Indecent Noise’s next planned date (Monday July 14th) will not happen. Not even an email or call from the club to say it was off. This most recent action and the previous coupled with the recent statement about Creche detailing similar problems to us and many other agencies and artists dealing with Gatercasher Ibiza have left us no option but to cancel all remaining dates with the brand and with immediate effect we will have no more dealing with the San Antonio venue'

One of the most commented threat (18 Pages ) turn to dissappointment...

I think we'd all hoped GC had changed, grown up and matured enough to be a club out in Ibiza and had improved it's business practices. It would appear it's same shit, different year.

Worst thing is that if it does shut you can see it staying shut.

Even though it has had millions spent on it that's 3 owners who haven't made it a success (2012 Eden Owners, Dutch Eden Owners last year and Gatecrasher) and you can see it struggle to get a new buyer.

I bet the owner of EsParadis is doing cartwheels however, if they are left being the only club in San An they'll be busy everynight!

My understanding is that Eden was bought out as a club by the dutch owners to hire out, as GC are hiring it out on a 3 year lease. So it'll just revert back to the current dutch owners. @stivi & @McRackin - that's correct, isn't it?

I think thats the case yeah, but still will be tough to find permanent tenants after a few seasons of struggle I reckon
