Flights to Ibiza

I am trying to book a flight from london gatwick to ibiza around the first week of june for a low price yet it has to be after 10am, any ideas what airlines fly from only gatwick to ibiza at a low price? something leaving between 12-6 pm would be ideal for a low price.

also just curious how far of a drive is it from heathrow to gatwick?

what about gatwick to stansted

I am from Canada so unsure, thanks for your help its always appreciated!:D

Right here we go:

Hearthrow to Gatwick usually takes me about 50 minutes round the M25. Gatwick to Stanstead is going to be the best part of 2 hours as you need to pretty much go either around London or through London.

Airlines from Gatwick? It would be quicker to state which ones don't - seriously. I can't think of any airline that doesn't fly from there.

Easyjet offer cheapish flights from LGW to IBZ, however, at this time, you might find a British Airways flight cheaper - we always have.

If you are at Heathrow, why not fly from there? That's what I'm doing.

Another point to add, in my opinion THE best website is www.sidestep.com its basically a search engine of flights and is the easiest to use! Searches all the airlines that fly to Ibiza, really good site.

SideStep is an awesome search aggregator. A few of my friends found their flights to Ibiza for this September from NYC

Two other good search aggregators are www.kayak.com and www.mobissimo.com

These three sites will find you the cheapest prices!

Here's a flight guide I wrote 2 weeks ago for a large group of friends who are coming to Ibiza from the US and Israel this September. I've written this from an American point of view, but the links for budget European carriers are applicable to everyone.

This is somewhat of an updated version of Riddel's post from early 2005 (see above).

Feel free to contribute if you have something else to add!

If you haven't booked up a ticket yet, look through my list of resources below. Before we managed to snag two seats with our miles, I had done a crapload of legwork on flights to Ibiza. I figured that I shouldn't let all my hard work go to waste and that you guys should reap some of the rewards and not waste your time trying to find all this information.

A note about flying to Ibiza from the US - it sucks, no matter what. There are too many stops and you are going to be cranky as hell by the time you land. There are no direct flights and even flights with only one stop are very expensive. Most of us will have at least 1 or 2 stops, each way.

You can get your flight using 3 different methods: use your miles and get a free ticket; go on Orbitz or Travelocity and let them plan it all out for you and keep you on one carrier; or buy a roundtrip ticket from NYC to a random European city and then try to snag a cheap flight on a European budget airline.

Out of the last two options, one is NOT necessarily cheaper than the other (NOTE: this conflicts with Riddel's post above. Even the budget European carriers prices to Ibiza from London or Madrid have risen SIGNIFICANTLY from last year!). You will need to do your homework and weigh the pro's and cons.

Booking a flight from NYC to Europe
I recommend using one of the following search aggrigators to get from NYC to Ibiza (or another European city, if you try to go with a low cost Euro carrier)

www.kayak.com
www.sidestep.com/air/
www.mobissimo.com/search_airfare.php

Flying with a low-cost carrier
If you do decide to try and catch a cheap flight to Madrid or Frankfurt or London, you will need buy a flight to Ibiza with a low-cost carrier. I have seen some fairly good deals to fly into places like Cologne, Manchester and Frankfurt - those might be worth investigating.

If you use this method, be sure to allow yourself AT LEAST 2 hours between flights. When you change to another carrier in Europe, they do not transfer your bags for you. So that means you must leave the secured area, go through customs, get your bags, check your bags with the new airline and go through security again. If you miss your flight, you are not refunded and must buy a new ticket. They're very strict about this in Europe.

Low cost carriers that fly to Ibiza:

www.easyjet.com - Flys from two London airports, Liverpool, Geneva, East Midlands (UK) & Newcastle

http://www.vueling.com - Flys from Barcelona and Valencia

http://www.spanair.com - Flys from Barcelona and Madrid

http://www.airberlin.com/ - Flys from London, Rome, Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin, Dortmund, Stuttgart, Munich, Frankfurt

www.condor.de - Flys from Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg

http://www.britishairways.com - Flys from Barcelona, London

https://www.flydba.com - Flys from any major German city

http://www.babooairways.com/ - Flys from Geneva

http://www.jet2.com/ - Flys out of Manchester, Leeds

http://www.thomsonfly.com - Flys from London, Belfast, Glasgow, every British city with an airport

For those coming from Israel, it looks like you'll have to fly into a major European city and then catch a connection flight with one of the airlines I listed above.

http://www.israirairlines.com - Budget carrier flying to Paris, London, Barcelona, Berlin, A'dam, etc.

http://www.arkia.co.il - Budget carrier flying to Paris, Berlin, Spain, most major European cities

If you are flying from New York City, there is also one other secret option. There is a very small airline company called Air Comet, who is affliated with SpanAir. They fly into and out of Madrid only twice per week. From Madrid, you catch connecting flights to IBZ, BCN, etc. Their prices are ROCK BOTTOM cheap.

I have never flown with them, but all the reviews I read about them online have been fairly negative. Another major issue is that Air Comet is not affiliated with any other major airlines. So if your flight from JFK gets cancelled or the plane breaks down, they cannot get you on any other flight. You are basically screwed. But if you don't have a lot of money to spend on a plane ticket and you are willing to take the risks, by all means contact them and let us know how much you paid for your ticket. I'm very interested to hear about what they are offering.

A review of Air Plus Comet on the NYC-Spain route by a person named "tigerw30." He used Air Plus Comet to attending closing parties in September of 2005.

The air comet flight itself was pretty uncomfortable. Imagine a plane that should have been decommissioned about 10 years ago. Seats are well worn and pretty uncomfortable. Now imagine that they over pack the plane with too many seats for not enough space, cutting the leg room by a good 25 percent. No imagine that they have like two flight attendants for the entire plane. So that’s the downside.

But we’re going to closing parties again this year and will be taking the comet. I just checked and they have a flight leaving 9/11 and returning 11 days later for 340 euros (tax included). So instead of paying $1600 for tickets for my wife and me to Spain, we are going to pay about $800 total. (This is key because we always spend a mint is Ibiza, 15 euro limon and vodkas at DC10 go down way too easy)

The savings are well worth 7 hours of being a sardine. It’s nothing that bottle of cheap wine and some Ambien won’t cure.

Flight prices

I just paid $527 from Birmingham to Barcelona to Ibiza round trip. I only paid $1000 round trip from California to Birmingham, that doesn't seem right, but oh well.

It seems there is no discussion between the Clubs and the Airlines. I appreciate that clubbers are an overall minority. BUT you try bookinga Long weekend from the UK. Flights on Thursdays are non existent and Friday too late.

Im looking for flights 21st Sept back on 25th Sept at civilised times so I can get in 4 clubbing nights. Can I do that when I want to.. can I hell.

Maybe Im looking in the wrong places.

Just thought I'd let people in. Was on the bus to town yesterday (Manchester) and see the textbook offensive orange easyjet billboard, on quick glance I notice Ibiza flights from £31.99..So when I get home I checked them out. Unlike Thompsonfly, these deal flights weren't like a needle in a haystack to find and available on most of the days of the month!

So this morning without hesitation I booked a pair of tickets for the 27th july (nightflight arrives next day early hours) til sunday the 12th of august for only £80 each INC tax! I can't imagine you'll find cheaper flights anywhere, get involved guys :)
It means flying from liverpool but its not too far an inconveniance

I always book via http://www.skyscanner.net

They do the best prices for euro travel that i've found. It usually means flying out with one carrier and back with another. As they do it this way it means that you can arrive and depart on whatever day you want. Ideal for doing the long weekends.

i just use the normal airlines tour opp..like mytravel.firstchoice ect..i know its in may but my flight now is only £74.00 from 23rd may till 6th june..from ema

that as come right down from £200.00 plus in april...its a gamble but worth the wait

What's the cheapest connection flight to get to Ibiza, and where from? Heathrow?

I flew directly to Madrid from Toronto this past September, but the cost of the entire flight was horrid.

gatwick might be good as you can go with BA from there, failing that Stanstead or Luton but they are a long way out from London
