Films....

Went to see sucker punch last night, what a bizarre film it is:eek: but still very enjoyable.

The gf and i saw this advertised at the cinema and for the first part of the trailer we were silent  then it turned into a bl**dy computer game, then we got back to our conversation....looked very errr weird, but spose its somethihng different to the norm

It's certainly a strange one but defo worth a watch.

Film: Limitless
Rating: 6 / 10

The film has such a brilliant concept. It was just so poorly executed. Which is a dying shame!
It was a good film to watch, but I thought back over it, and have realized the sheer amount of loose ends and plot holes in the story, that I downgraded my rating from a 7 to a 6.
I'd recommend seeing it once, though. It's not a keeper in the DVD collection, however.

Since we were on about Cannibal Holocaust earlier, here's something posted on another forum about a new upcoming UK release:

Shameless Screen Entertainment has submitted a fully uncut version of Cannibal Holocaust to an advisory board at the BBFC who have advised them that the film would (only) have to be cut by 14 seconds!

"At 18 minutes - Remove sight of man killing small mammal with a knife. Cut required from 0:18:21 - 0:18:35."

The BBFC feels that all previous cuts to the scenes of sexual violence can now be waived as the scenes in question are horrifying and repugnant, and clearly not designed to eroticise or promote sexual violence. As for the other animal cruelty scenes (the turtle, monkey and pig), the BBFC's view is that these killings were quick, clean and humane and therefore do not contravene BBFC policy.

In conversation, Deodato has advised Shameless that, in his mind, the muskrat scene was the only animal-killing in the film where the animal was sacrificed, all of the other animals were eaten as was normal practice in that part of the world.

This minimal cut makes for the longest ever UK version of the film, although it should be noted that this is at the advisory stage and therefore the film has not yet been submitted for or received formal classification. This is such exciting news that Shameless has decided to release not one, but two versions of the film! This means that the Shameless release will feature this longest ever UK version and Deodato's 21st Century Edit, which will see the animal cruelty toned down.

This means that Deodato's new edit will not simply cut out the animal cruelty scenes, but rather will edit out the actual, obvious pain and cruelty inflicted on the animals, but keep the "fact" that it happened. As a result, Shameless is pleased to announce that in accordance with the director's wishes, Shameless' release of Deodato's 21st Century Edit version will contain less animal cruelty than the BBFC classified version!

This advice from the BBFC has got everyone at Shameless, Cine Excess and Cult Labs very excited as it will help us to develop an amazing edition of Cannibal Holocaust for the UK.

TBH, I'm not sure I could stomach that.

The first one is probably the worst in that respect but defo worth a look, i can't believe they have remade the first one in english with daniel craig!!!!!!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1568346/
I still really don't understand why they needed to. The first film actually had decent US box office for a foreign film.

The first film was excellent. The other 2 were good too but the first one was so well done that remaking it is totally unnecessary.

At least the author stipulated before his death that any Hollywood remake would have to be true to the original (i.e. not re-set in Los Angeles or something).

I don't think the actress is half as good as the Swedish one :(

The books were amazing!!! I could not put them down - not sure about the films though as I have a weak stomach

I've only read the first one so far. I found the first third of it really hard going - I know it was building the story but it was a bit slow for me. However I'm glad I stuck with it. :D

Will have to get my hands on the other two methinks.

I might need to refresh the old memory with that film again, not that i wana endure the sadness of the film, but its quite a watch if i remember correctly....

Its all about the VODKA over there ;) strong as hell apparently

went to a three day wedding there the vodka is mental i cant believe i came back still standing, they have all these amazing lakes there which are really beautiful lots of water sports bbqs etc lovely place although they polish weren't keen on us at all a few of the wedding party got jumped and beaten up for no reason sad really :(

the best fair ground ride i have been on is one at creamfields my friend had a bit of a pissing problem so after queuing for loo then the mafia tent then the loo about 12 times we decided to call it a day get back to hotel and change for sankeys on way out 2 of us went on an amazing ride it was out of this world especially as i was slightly messy anyway, no chance i would have gone on with a straight head

Theres 3 of them ?! what genre is this film, but have to give them a watch :)
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, the Girl Who Played with Fire and the Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. They're suspense thrillers. But quite intelligent and sufficiently complex. Do give them a go, especially the first.
