Amazing Venue! Been twice and got Klockworks to comeGive me a day at Printworks over some London day festival like SW4/Field Day any day. Printworks - that's a day time event and a half
Over the last few years I have done a different festival usually somewhere in Europe. I'm fortunate that finances allow a yearly trip to Ibiza and also a few weekends away or another holiday. So I try to get in a festival that offers something different music wise. Over the last few years I have done Sonar in Barcelona, Giles Petersons Worldwide Festival in Sete, ATP festival in Reykjavik, Primavera Sound in Barcelona. I even went to Lollapalooza in USA a few years ago. All of these offer a much broader range of artists than you would get in Ibiza, so I get to experience loads of great music and travel to some cool places too. This year I am giving Suncebeat in Croatia a try. So for me festivals are about seeing/hearing a wider variety of music.
On a side note, referring to the many destinations being cheaper than Ibiza point. I've found that European dates on bands tours to be far more cost effective than the UK especially London. A few times I have bought cheaper event tickets and It's often cheaper and quicker to fly from here in Bristol to somewhere like Berlin or Amsterdam than it is to travel by train to London. Plus it's more of an adventure if you visit a new city.
That's a wicked idea! If it's a succes I can see a lot of spotlighters going!BPM in Portugal is high on my list of options for next summer also. Possibly a Spotlight meet up in Portugal then!![]()
I would disagree, lots of festivals are expensive but you cant say they last the same time as a club night. Any festival is at least 11 hours long and most clubs will not be open longer than 7/8 hours. If you wait to get your tickets yeah the prices rise but most first release tickets are around £30 and any big London club will be charging £20+ at least.
With regards to everything else have you been to Junction 2? Sound system was not bad at all, Venue was one of the best locations I have ever been and in terms of ticket prices my ticket cost £27. For £27 I got 11 hours of music, spread over 3 great stages with a whole host of amazing artists and a whole day out in the sun with all my mates! 2 hours was the minimum set time and only 4/5 DJs per stage. So I would say that is not bad value at all.
And I f***ing hate shit sound systems too. Take SW4. I get sucked in year after year by the amazing lineups, but spend most of the event chatting to my mates rather than throwing shapes cos I can't hear the bloody music! I still kind of have a good time as I'm with my friends off my head in the sun, but it's a waste of money really. I'm not going this year, never again.
You need to get yourself to Junction 2. It really was exceptional! Best UK Festival I've ever done by far. The crowd was the best part everyone there was there for the right reasons, because they love music and this made a really good vibe. You didn't get anyone who was there for the sake of it.Not been to Junction 2 but heard it was exceptional. Exceptional being the key word there. Sounds like you're doing these one-dayers the way I would like to: getting one of the few cheap early-bird tickets and arriving early. For most people this isn't the reality, it's a more expensive later release ticket and rolling up mid-afternoon.
