Favourite scary film

As it's almost Halloween 8O I thought we'd have a thread about your favourite scary film. What's always scared you out of your wits? What film do you love watching for a good horror night? Is there a film you will never watch because it just looks too scary?

For me, I will NEVER EVER watch these films:

The Exorcist
The Omen
The Shining
The Grudge
The Ring

Basically any film that is to do with devils, small ghost children, evel sprits etc etc.... ohhhh no way could I put myself through that 8O

I do enjoy watching some horroe films, but only ones that I know I can watch without ruining my sleep for the next week! Yesterday I watched:

When a Stranger Calls (the new one)

Thought it was very jumpy, lots of suspense, but nothing too scary if you are a wimp like me

Oh, and for those UK people, the original 1978 Halloween is on tomorrow night at 11.45pm

Halloween is my favourite - still scares the crap out of me now!!

I think its the "no matter how fast you run, Michael Myers always seems to be closing in you" malarky - urgh got shivers just thinking of that....8O

the shining is the daddy, when he is about to knock on the door and see's the 2 tiwn girls standning there:)
have seen most horror films and love them, want to go cinema more to watch them though

The Shining
The Grudge
The Ring
All of these are absolute classics!
(except the Grudge, which I haven't seen).
I mean the original Ring (the Japanese one), of course.

Still, my favorite has to be The Hitcher. Classic, low-fi suspense.

Jon loves horror films, I rang him up once and he was watching The Omen in his flat on his own with all the lights off 8O freak!

I hate the gorey ones like Saw though and Hostel - more gross then scary - cannot watch things like that at all!

for me scary is more physcological fcuk up films than traditional horror. so films like Eyes Wide Shut and A Clockwork Orange spook me most.8O

of the more trad type..................Child's Play is sick (as in actually sick not as in good) and obviously i hate the film The Birds!8O

Not really a film I know, but there's one episode of Twin Peaks that I find very dark and disturbing...they're in the dark lodge and it's reeeeeally horrible and twisted.

Bob Bad is the scariest thing I've ever set eyes on. :?

Grego - Gracias... I think :? ;)

Silvia - You had a small typo - "the Shinning" instead of "the Shining". The shin is the lower front part of the leg (the bone there really hurts when you hit it). Just a play on words. :D

Thanks, but next time add the correction after the joke please :spank: ;)

The most horrifying film ive seen is a french film called Irreversible

As a kid, Nightmare on Elm Street always got to me
