wow - got it! if this had not been a leap year, there would have been the same number of parties as the year before as the first Sunday of October would have been the 1st rather than the 7th !!!!

"...
MORE MONTHS SEASON

"The seasonal passes to promote golf tourism and nautical"
The employer states that should be encouraged especially in the complementary offer
two points to extend the season:

"The client may be primarily winter in northern or eastern Europe, mainly to move nautical tourism,
an activity that can be extended until November
and golf tourism, which is high season in winter when you can play in the countries of origin. "

And points out: "The seasonal adjustment is already invented,
what is lacking is the will to implement it."

The clubs will delay the opening until July if the Consell 'offer does not stop the illegal "
Entrepreneurs will meet tomorrow with the Councillor for Tourism, Carmen Ferrer

Maria Jose Real | Eivissa | 17/07/2012
Entrepreneurs of the major clubs in Ibiza will meet tomorrow with the Councillor for Tourism,
Carmen Ferrer, to convey his displeasure over the "deregulation in the market" this summer,
said Jose Maria Echániz, one of the members of the club Privilege.

At this meeting require the maximum island institution acting against
"illegal offer and the chaos you're seeing this summer on the island."
In addition, we transmit the possibility of delaying next year openings for July
if the situation "continues as this season."

"The biggest problem that the island is all that is being done this summer
is the chaos that reigns in all the illegals and the authorities to discourage.
Every restaurant and every stall is a nightclub and this is a chaos that can not stand anyone.
To this must be added the parties on boats, to each site that you have set up a nightclub.
Like pirate taxis have regulated asked to regulate our industry,
because what we will open four months if everything is illegal, "
said this member of the club Privilege, said:" In the end we have to work one month a year
to be profitable and see who comes when informing tour operators
that we will not open until July. "

Security
The clubs require regulation to ensure safety, explained the director of Amnesia,
David Philip, "The problem is now on the Island is that anything goes,
everyone can do everything and this means there is a deregulation in the market.
they olbige us is to close the clubs by the sound and now there are a number of locations
that can make outdoor music and do not affect any state law
, regional or European. "

This lack of regulation and safety, as the director of Amnesia, can have consequences
for the island's image abroad:.
"If I have to comply with all security measures and be a reference to the British ambassador
when he comes to visit and test facilities that are safe for tourists, what will happen
when the day has 40 people in local Saint George? " he inquired of Philip, who adds:
"When that happens, the headlines all over the world will be '40 killed in a nightclub in Ibiza
'no' in a local witout license in Sant Jordi. '"

For the director of Amnesia the key is that the island "is without direction."
"We have been a reference worldwide and everybody wanted to copy us
...
," he said.

De Felipe Echániz and agree that at the meeting tomorrow will demand solutions.
"It is devastating that authorities are looking away.
They have some powers delegated in terms of safety, have been told by active and passive
have in mind the safety of tourists who visit us because we do not make sense
Fitur campaigns and the World Travel Market and let us watch for their safety
on the island, "said De Felipe. Echániz, meanwhile, said officials "look the other way
instead of looking to those who have made Ibiza worldfamous ... us the clubs."

from your article:
"Unless some of the Clubs change their business model to reflect this growing trend, then they will be left behind to fade away"

But from reading the original piece it seemed the guy from amnesia was expressing a sense of frustration as they cant just change their business model due to all the regulations that have been imposed on them over the last 6 years. Im sure Priviledge would love to do an after party / afternoon or 2 in Coco Loco etc but thy cant where as the beach bars can get away with it and thats whats annoying him... unless im getting the wrong end of the stick

Then why dont they lobby for after parties / afternoons, changing of law etc instead of coming out and wanting competitors to be shut down??

maybe they did already? who knows.
i agree they do look like babies throwing their toys out the pram :)

i guess they are trying to hold on to the age of the super club and clubbing is moving forward in different ways perhaps

Like any market or product there will be competitors. The consumers will hit a price they will not pay. There is only so many VIP paying punters in the world. The market/consumers set value for products and what they will pay. I think it is crap that they want the government to step in and shut down smaller clubs, bars, boat parties etc.... They should change their product so it more attractive to the average tourist versus limiting choice on the island.

They just dont want to change like any institution that has had it so good for so long.

To want to close down somebody for trying to make a living is wrong in my book..:spank:

^^ Agree - totally wrong. It's the smaller establishments which keep the whole Ibiza vibe alive - and keep regulars like me coming back time and time again.

Yes they reflect the character and mix of the Island the best. Im in the same boat....

it's not new, remember what was posted in this thread some months ago:

the association of clubs of the balearic islands, who will have a meeting with the club owners of ibiza next month to talk about it, likes this initiative which is projected for 2013 season but with one condition: to be strict with all the venues in an irregular situation.....

Hopefully might see some sensible ticket prices soon then..........................nah.
yeah, now that from september the V.A.T. clubs have to pay goes up from 8 to 21% they will put the pices down..... NAH.

does anybody on his right mind really think the big clubs would cut their own flesh
and don´t re-open b4 july 2013 :?:

I don't think the "super(super expensive rip off) clubs would be any more wealthier if these places were shut down. These days people need choice because the clubs are too expensive to do every night of the holiday and have found alternatives to the west end or chilling at the hotel while they recover. It is just too much money for the big clubs to expect we all go in there all the time and while I do like the experience they offer they aren't the be all and end all of Ibiza they need to take their head out of their arse. Even if they did do day time parties who can afford their prices for 10+ hours of dancing? I wouldn't pay it on principal the greedy gits. :D
