This lack of regulation and safety, as the director of Amnesia, can have consequences
for the island's image abroad:.
"If I have to comply with all security measures and be a reference to the British ambassador
when he comes to visit and test facilities that are safe for tourists, what will happen
when the day has 40 people in local Saint George? " he inquired of Philip, who adds:
"When that happens, the headlines all over the world will be '40 killed in a nightclub in Ibiza
'no' in a local witout license in Sant Jordi. '"

For the director of Amnesia the key is that the island "is without direction."
"We have been a reference worldwide and everybody wanted to copy us
...
," he said.
Amnesia and safety? Closings are packed, packed & PACKED! Security measures? LOL... Remember Snoop Dogg @ Amnesia? Amnesia is one of the worst clubs when it comes to safety!

The Consell urge councils to act against illegal leisure
Big clubs keep the threat of delaying the opening next year to July

E. RODRIGUEZ | IBIZA Ibiza Consell urge municipalities of the island to act against illegal leisure
after the heads of major clubs on the island have threatened to delay the opening
of the next season of July to protest against this competition.
"I worry that any sector of the island to look helpless and have to alter their usual
cycle of openness", said yesterday the island of Tourism Councillor, Carmen Ferrer,
after meeting with representatives of Privilege, Amnesia, Pacha, Es Paradis and Eden .

For scheduling reasons, Space did not attend. :?: :!:

...

After the meeting the businessmen refused to comment to the media.
Industry sources suggest that currently each restaurant, boat and beach on the island
"has become a nightclub," which is causing injury to its business and, moreover,
"the loss of heritage Ibiza differentiates from other destinations : the five big clubs ".

The sources suggest that the activity in June, after the opening "not bad",
but note that you are receiving "a turnaround" that should be stopped because, otherwise,
"no going back."
Employers argue that if not resolved the problem of unfair competition
in 2013 delayed the opening until July.

The councilor says, however, that the sector did not tell you "formally"
they were going to do.
"It is an extreme limit. It is a condition in the case of failure to comply with the law, "
said Ferrer.
It should be noted that the Consell requested some time to go on ahead discos delayed
opening and closing to try to lengthen the tourist season.

Ferrer said that entrepreneurs addressed the problem of supply without reference
to specific cases. "The nightlife is a very important part of tourism and must be looked after.
Whoever wants to enter this kind of offer should do so legally and with the same terms
as others, but there is this feeling of lack of control, "he said.

The Councillor acknowledged that there has to develop the rules of the beach clubs,
which offer has proliferated over the past two years.

I spoke to a lady who came to clean my villa in June who has lived on the island nearly 30 yeas from UK. She said while the music scene has made Ibiza what it is in a sense(she decided to live there after going to Ku and Amnesia in the days they were outside) she says the island as a whole are fed up that the big clubs are the only ones making serious money these days. I think they need to realise where their bread is buttered, all this talk of late openings(which will never happen) is silly. Space will not refuse to open as normal they must sell 6-8k tickets for opening alone?
I can't help but laugh, and hope that Ibiza does not cave in to these "big clubs" and see what happens. I think just as many people would still go and have a blast :)

Seems to me that such a move would only help feed a decline in the big clubs.

A concerted promotional effort by DC10, Ushuaia, Sankeys and a couple of other venues and June could be the best month on the island!

Space could be relegated to second-rans as Ushuaia becomes the venue for the island's main opening party! DC10 and Sankeys take up the night program for that late May opening weekend. Ocean Beach Club and (a newly revived?) Extaxis join in as well, and everyone programs a full calendar of events for June. I think we've got a winner.

Club's Unhappy
The major clubs on the island have fired out a warning message to the authorities just as the season kicks in to full swing. The owners of clubs, including Amnesia, Privilege, Eden and es Paradis have claimed they will not open until July next year unless the administrations start to deal with illegal clubs which have sprung up around the island over the last few years. In a meeting with Tourism Councillor, Carmen Ferrer, the group claimed it wanted to see firm action, starting immediately. A spokesman for Privilege claimed the situation in which “every bar, restaurant or boat is suddenly a club” could not continue.
For her part, Ferrer placed the responsibility firmly at the door of the Town Halls, as she demanded more control.

the owner of Amnesia has a cheek.... maybe they should concentrate on not breaking the law themselves by WAY overcrowding to extremely dangerous levels every single time they have an opening/closing party than what other smaller clubs are doing.... oh aye, that's right... it's all about the money... :spank::x

It isn't just the opening and closing though is it? I have been to Amnesia where you are literally fighting people to get anywhere or being elbowed all over the body just trying to dance. It has been this way for a long time and that being regulated is far more an issue then whether a business who is not classed as a nightclub is having a party.

Simple, the super clubs need to stop being greedy and charging so much money for drinks and admission and they won't have any loss of crowds to worry about, competition is healthy in my opinion.

"hotel" ushuaia
that could/would be the reason why space didn´t participate in the "big-disco-meeting" ...
