This assertion is based on the assumption that the pound/euro exchange rate is the most important factor in determining club pricing. Sorry to tell you, but it's not!The clubs are going to have to take their prices right down
I tell you something; 1€ = £0.89
Murder. If it stays like this or even worse gets lower, there is no danger I'll be able to afford Ibiza next year
The clubs are going to have to take their prices right down
The rapid drop in UK interest rates has been the main driver of this sharp fall, plus the now collapsed Financial Services industry has been the main output of the UK, and therefore the main demand driver for sterling.
Talk at the moment is that it will go lower, with a worse case scenario of £1 = €0.90
That said, the European Central Bank is looking at an interest rate drop of its own, and not forgetting that by the time the Ibiza season kicks off, other UK industries will have felt the benefit of the exchange rates in that our exports will be cheaper.
So...... it could recover a little by next Summer........... maybe?
... he's being deadly serious ...
I remember a couple of threads on here where we discussed how cheap it was for you all to go shopping in the States. Now that the dollar is climbing, it might actually be affordable for Americans to visit Europe again. With the weak pound, I might start doing more of my clothes shopping on my regular visits to London instead of waiting for the annual trip to the US.
