European Festivals

It's been a bad week for Field Day, with the artists pulling out and now the council acted unlawfully with the planning approval:

I see both sides of the debate on why the artists are pulling out vs. the organisers having no control who their ultimate legal owners are but they response Field Day posted late last week was very poor. It's been a tough few years for festivals and clubs so this is just another blow to the scene IMO.

I'm going to Field Day tomorrow, mainly to see Dixon so pleased he's still on. Only for 1h 30 mins though :(... why such short sets!

Was hoping with all the cancelled sets he'd be given more time!

Field Day was good fun, Dixon by far the best set of the day for me. Fatima Yamaha was decent too as was Jayda G. Couldnt get into Peggy Gou after Dixon. She looked like she really didnt want to be there.

What sort of music/vibe is it there, been before?

Been 3 times. In SW France near border, in grounds of old castle. Pretty small. Beautiful area. One bar, 2 food stalls. Maybe 300-400 capacity. Mostly youngish French crowd, a few Spanish, maybe 4 Brits tops. Music is dark all the way, no respite, slow techno or EBM, smacked out electronic vibe. No hands in the air classics. Very eco too. eg sawdust/woodchip non-flush toilets in campsite. Great roadtrip. Pretty cheap, but worth going with open mind. Not a UK-style mash fest although people do get stuck in. Just a lovely intimate event but fiercely independent.
