Drug tests for drivers

......... 8O

I wont drive under the influence of anything, drink or whatever, but I have, under the influence gotten into many a car with someone who is spannered and is driving......

I just think that a comedown is bad enough without having an accident and potentially killing someone - comedown for eternity in my book - my mates brother killed a little girl (he was straight) when she ran out between two cars..... he has never come to terms with it.....

if it was done on our driver of the minibus on the way back on sunday morning then bad thing. definately.

I cant see any arguement whatsoever against it.

Although I'd be happier if the test were a little more scientific.

Anyone who gets into any vehicle under the influence of anything is a bloody idiot. Full stop.

I couldnt care less if its not scientific. If it catches people off their faces on the road, then it s a good thing. If your not fit to drive, dont drive.

Anyone who has experienced the grief of losing someone through drink/drug driving will understand. Anyone who hasnt, does not want to find out I can assure you.

If there is one thing I can say to everyone on this board is for gods sake dont take any chances this xmas. I lost a friend due to his own mistake and I would hate to think that anyone here would have to go through what his family and friends did. Cabs might be expensive but the cost pales into insignificance compared to the alternative.

Please be safe all of you. It's no laughing matter.

Ok...i understand what people are saying,i do drive after a night out on the happy tablets but only if im fully aware and clear or ill go round a mates, but as i live 2 hours away i do like to get home.
It is stoopid of me and im aware of this.

Can i add,how many people get in their car and drive a morning after a night on the piss?lots i bet, well thats just as bad as drink driving. The same goes for driving on weed,i doubt anyone has never driven on something unless they dont drive, sadly it is life.
And anyone who gets in the car with someone under the influence of anything is just as bad.

Hear what your saying there Kitty, but have to say there really is no excuse.

Your right, loads of people (myself included) have driven after a night on the ale etc and therefore over the limit. Thing is not to distinguish between any substance. Suffice to say it has been some long time since I last did this.

Its quite simple, I (and everyone else should do this too) just dont drive if not capable. That includes being too tired. On a night out, get one person to agree to stay straight. You can all take it in turn so over time it evens out.

I have no idea how old you are, and im really not singling you out here, but your view does change as you get older. When in my teens/early 20's I thought i could justify being a bit west and driving, but life has taught me different.

Might sound a bit drastic but every time you think about driving whilst not sober you have to ask yourself "am I ready to die?". Usually the answer will be no, so therefore dont do it.

If you do die driving under the influence your life insurance wont pay out either. If you dont die but do crash, regardless of who is actually to blame you will be prosecuted too. Not a great prospect is it?

I see what your saying i really do.
And alot of accidents happen while under the influence, mainly alchohol i might add,but also alot of accidnts happen when straight, its a sad fact that just getting in your car is risking ur life or someone elses.
But i know what your saying.

I hate drink drivers yet what i do isnt much better... :?
