A recent poll in America tells us...!!!

67 percent of Republicans (and 40 percent of Americans overall) believe that Obama is a socialist.

57 percent of Republicans (32 percent overall) believe that Obama is a Muslim

45 percent of Republicans (25 percent overall) agree with the Birthers in their belief that Obama was "not born in the United States and so is not eligible to be president"

38 percent of Republicans (20 percent overall) say that Obama is "doing many of the things that Hitler did"

Scariest of all, 24 percent of Republicans (14 percent overall) say that Obama "may be the Antichrist.":eek::eek:

Hey - glass houses/stones. ;)

71.6% of people in the UK believe that the world was created by a rotund man in the sky with a beard.

He wrote a book called the bible and sent his only son to save us from all our sins.

This bloke never married or had sex of any kind because this would be a sin.

So basically, he never had sex with a woman (a sin), a bloke (even bigger sin), himself (big, big sin)...or had an orgasm (sin outside marriage) and never had a sexual thought because that could lead to the above and is therefore a sin in and of itself.

...oh and incidentally, his mum was a virgin too (as you'd expect).

...

So my point is, we might want to sort out the guilt ridden cult we have on our own turf before pointing a finger across the Atlantic.

It's actually nearer 50% who claim to "Christian" in the UK. I think about 40% claim to be non-religious.

No of course Rodber is right - it's the anti christ reference that made me laugh particularly. However gladly, we do appear to be a fantastically god less country now a days. Thank the lord.

What organization performed this poll? I'm skeptical but it could be accurate. I'm tend to agree more with republicans, but this is more then a simple party line issue.

I think many people abroad do not fully understand the issues we have here in the states. We have over complicated nearly everything and they piss money into thin air. Our federal government fail's at everything it ever touches. No doubt that Health Care needed some sort of reform or regulation, but the manner in which is was conducted and all the pork attached is what has a lot of Americans so upset. (17% Bill Approval by AP Poll)

Also remember that America has terrible public health. Nearly 70% Obesity, rampant diabetes, cancer, terrible diets, poor life choices, sedentary lifestyles etc etc.

This is just another nail in the coffin. Don't worry though, when the dollar collapses, I'm sure financial holding's in the UK wont be effected.

I really hope you don't agree that Obama is socialist, Muslim, the anti-Christ, Hitler-like or not a natural born US citizen... because that's all simply crazy talk.

Last polls I saw showed approval ratings of the healthcare bill approaching 50%. Once people understand what it really means, most will approve. The problem is that all the noise made by the bill's opponents spread a lot of misinformation.

Also remember that America has terrible public health. Nearly 70% Obesity, rampant diabetes, cancer, terrible diets, poor life choices, sedentary lifestyles etc etc
One important reason why we need more access to health care and preventative medicine. The US was in the company of sub-Saharan Africa and a couple of countries each in S America and SE Asia in not insuring universal access. That's pathetic for the richest country on the planet.

Don't worry though, when the dollar collapses, I'm sure financial holding's in the UK wont be effected.
The dollar is too strong at the moment. Bush actually worked very hard to weaken the dollar to get us out of the last recession. (remember $1.60 euros and $2 pounds?). When the current recession hit, everyone ran to the dollar for safety. And they're still there. A weaker dollar would help boost industry and exports. Only thing we don't want is for people to abandon the dollar as a reserve currency en masse.

Yeah, I spank it to her before I go to sleep nightly.

On a serious note, y'all have some valid points. I can't hate the president of my country, he's not the anti-Christ. The blame is directly place on the People. We have the responsibility to voice our concerns to our representation. It's the senate and the congress that votes on these bills, the president simply signs them.

Early polls show change is coming in November, hopefully some seats will be changed out but the bottom line is all politicians are crooks. I personally advocate less government interference in my life. America was built on self-reliance and hard work.

I understand how some of these ideas work well in Europe. It's just a different model though.

I live in Texas. Call me what you want. There is over a million undocumented illegal aliens in my Metro area. This means taxes are not paid on earnings but they continue to reap the benefits paid for by State and Federal taxes. Does the UK have the same type of inverse tax base situation?

Irregardless, I've been looking for flats in Barcelona or Amsterdam. I haven't spent more then 6 months in the states in the past 5 years. The populations ignorance and general state of oblivion infuriates me. It's not their political opinions, it's the lack there of. Most people don't know who their representative or senators are, but the sure can tell you the past 9 winners of American Idol or the top 10 video's on MTV.

Ignorance is Bliss. 2 cents deposited. :p

I've lived overseas for the past 5 years. I've been all across western Europe, the Iberian peninsula, the Balkans, the Middle East, Central Asia, South West Asia, the South Pacific. Ran out of pages in my passport 2x.

Closest I've got to Moscow is either Budapest or Istanbul but I'd like to go someday.:p

I have respect for Medvedev btw, hope he gets the support for the hard line stance against extremism. I've been reading a lot about the imperial history of central Asia recently so these recent events have been put in perspective.
