Do you regularly donate to any charities?

I don't do regular charity giving... I'm usually event-oriented.

Examples, of the top of my head, include Red Cross for Sept. 11, Beslan survivors fund, Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina, etc. In the end, it's about as much as giving 5 pounds a month somewhere, because there's always something tragic and moving going on. :(

I also gave to political campaigns during the last US election. They lost though :(
 
I give £100 a year to the Poppy Appeal so I can give back something to those who gave for us, and the NSPCC for no other reason than I always have.
 
As harsh as this may sound, i sometimes wonder how much governments care about cancer.

Being as 1 in 3 of us die from cancer, they probably see it as a natural way to control the populations. Our government is now highly concerned about the increasing cost of the elderly (especially pensions). What would they do if everyone died of natural old age?

A conspirary perhaps?

I totally understand your point but you should wear in mind that cancer treatments are extremly expensive, so this teorical cotnrol of population is a very expensive metode ;) [/img]

I agree with you 100%

I feel the costs are balanced out somewhere down the line.

Very similar to the balance of treating smoking related illnesses to the taxes from tobacco sales.

The balance by which smokers pay millions of pounds more than they cost in medical expenses? :evil:

National Dead Children's Society (NDCS)
Goal
Trocaire

and we also donate all our individual revenues on one day in December at work to certain charities.

I've actually been a bit sily and forgot to mention one of the main charities i've given to in the last year :lol: :roll: I suppose i don't really see it as a charity because of what they do....but it is!
