Well I just thought that they maybe spread the money out? I'm gonna look into raising some money for Myeloma research soon as this is the type of cancer my Dad has.

Also the macmillen trust is another good charity, they sent my Dad a cheque for £500 the other day, so it shows the money does actually go to those suffering from Cancer.

Please check that you have either gift aided your donation or are giving through the payroll giving scheme to maximise the amount your donation is worth to the charity ;)

I dont donate a monthly amount anywhere, like Matt I will put in where I see people collecting, I'm another one to give generously to RSPCA, and also to MS.

No thats not true. For anyone who's interested this is the top 10 charities in the UK by voluntary income. Bear in mind that they may earn money on top of this from other sources such as government contracts and trading activities.

I still would personally give to a human charity over an animal one, especially for those in the third world/regions with not such good care for women/children/the poor.

I Think it's up to everyone to donate to certain organisations.
I think that people choose one or other depending of many circunstances that cannot be judge in a few of lines. I think is nice to donate to human charity , charity animal or ecological organizations. In my case I donate to mentally and fisicly handicapped persons in the third world and Spain, it's a organization that takes care of integrating this people,it's called Fundación Afim, they work not only in Spain but in the third world where this people due of their economical problems are not taken into consideration. I choose them because there are not a very large organisation but they work is very important, mostly because they work in many countries that are not so lucky as to have social security that gets in charge of their necesitys. Once by a coincidence I got into them and started helping them. I also interested in human rigths organizations. So I think that your personal interest or personal circunstances make you choose one or other.

Anyone who is on Cancer Research's mailing list as I am, will no doubt have received the HUGE totally unecessary newsletter type thing they sent out last month.
Printed on expensive headed paper, with all fancy writing and printing on it, in a cardboard type wallet thing... it's hard to explain, but basically they must have spent an absolute fortune on this mailer, when they could have said the same thing on a normal piece of A4 paper. Honestly, it was like something from Buckingham Palace, not a charity.
It made me think how much of our donations was spent (wasted) on sending their million-odd donaters this poncey letter :evil:

It made me so mad to receive it I was going to write to them and ask why they felt the need to waste money like this :x (but I didnt have time :oops: )

Anyway, I give to Leukaemia Research every month, and Great Ormond St Hospital :D
 
its unfortunate that now a days some charaties are frauds and dont help the cause they claim to help...
if i dontate it must be legit...the same way if i see a homeless person i would rather take them to buy them a meal than give them cash which they might use for drugs...

:evil: Disgusting! I know i've said it before but i'll say it again...them and World Vision are two of the worst charities for wasting money on crap like this as well as plush offices, admin, and all sorts of other crap. :roll:
 
Oh,and one thing that i don't think anyone has mentioned about the list...The National Trust in second place :D Very pleased to see that, they do great work in preserving our history and historic buildings/gardens etc :D I've always been a member and always will be.
 
Not really arsed about buildings and shit meself mate.

Nation and certain rave establishments, such as the hacienda (rip) maybe.

When I have money, I give to child, animal and cancer charities.
