Do you like your job?

Wait a sec... does that involve moving to Sheffield or can you telecommute from a real city, oops, I mean, somewhere down south?

No southerners pleeeeeeeeeeeease!

We have way too many Londoners here already.

I am an IT Project Manager for a large Worldwide American IT Company. I have to travel and work on projects on client sites. The projects can range from 2 weeks to 10 years!! I have to live in a hotel all week and i am the only female surrounded with men in sandals.

Do i enjoy it? Most of the time but staying in hotels and being away from everything and everybody can be very depressing. I am aiming to leave as soon as i have some more qualifications under my belt because they pay pretty poorly for an IT company.

My dream job would be in Property Development and i love DIY so would definitely try and do it all myself.

I am a PR manager and writer for a sports magazine that is distributed here in Spain (and is due to launch in May in England!). The pay is great...co-workers fantastic but I only wish I had the office that looked out the window to the sea! (I only get to see an overgrown tropical garden!:( )

My ambition in life though is to do Sweet F.A. and be a "lady of leisure" here in the sun!!!

I'm a strategist / creative planner for the digital arm of a big advertising agency. I absolutely love it, I get to work with very cool youth brands and basically take the requirements of our clients and convert them into marketing strategies and creative briefs.

Since I left uni just as the internet was becoming ubiquitous, there would be no way I could have foreseen this as a career, but I'm very pleased to be where I am now. The only career change I would entertain is leaving to start my own (probably music / marketing project)...

It's you who have to descrive this position, you should know and think what do you want from a PA, what kind of duties you want to delegate, what do you expect and what do you offer.
I worked in five different companies as assistant and except for very basic duties I always had differnt things to do depending on the sector or the boss;)

In answer to Beckiboo's question Do I enjoy it and do I see myself doing it for the rest of my life......

I never wanted to be a secretary (my mother was so....:? ).

I wanted to study photography and fashion at college but parents wouldnt pay for it - I had to train for a proper career.... (As Chewie says "so much for parental support"!!!).

However, I am extremely good at my job, and most of the senior partners on needing a new PA for whatever reason tend to ask for me to run their lives, but so far, my hands are full with the guys I have got and I enjoy working for them so I havent taken on any new men in the last year - but it always boosts your confidence in that you know you do an excellent job and you are wanted because you are efficient and good at your role.

Whether I stay with this company til retirement (eeeek!! What a thought 8O 8O ) I am doubtful, to be honest I plan to be moving on to work with Phil once our business is up and running and I am needed on a full time basis.

Fingers crossed anyway.....

Yeah, loads of agencies but not keen on agencies really.

I'll probably just advertise in local newspaper or job sites.

P.S. I could never get angry with you Mambs. I am in fact one of the nicest bosses you could wish to work for (too nice for my own good sometimes :? )

I would but i end up writing something way way way too long so end up starting over and making it too brief.

My secretary wrote her own in the end  Sounds crazy, but it worked out best for both of us.
