Personally I never enjoyed sitting in a lecture hall taking notes.
But I think you should definitely finish something you start. Right now I’m currently frustrated with my younger brother who at 23, has been studying at uni full time/ part time for the past 6 years.. and wants to quit.. with ONE TERM left. He says its boring, he doesn’t like people, and wants to focus on his ‘music career’
I HATED my first year at uni.. I took courses I thought I SHOULD be taking, as a result I failed two classes and did poorly in the rest. I ended up taking two years off in the middle of my degree to travel and work overseas, I then came back, changed my major, concentration and enjoyed and did well for the remaining three years.
Having a degree in History and Psychology isn’t bringing in the big money, but it did open the doors for me to work in Japan for three years and give me a lot more opportunities.
Now, at 28, soon to be 29, I find myself heading back to uni next year at 29/30 to do a Masters. I’m a little apprehensive about going back to study with the kiddies and be a poor student, but the course is going to be a lot more practicum based, which I’m looking forward to.
I never met “my kind of people” at uni either.. and neither do many of my friends here. I have a variety of friends and its nice . I don’t, nor do any of my friends here, keep in contact with much more than a handful of people they went to uni with.
Most of my friends are doing something COMPLETELY different as to what they were doing at uni. I have a friend who did sociology, was a police officer for 15 years, and is now teaching at a private school in Korea.. another friend of mine did Chemistry and is now doing a Ph d in political science.
My ‘good times’ have been after uni.. uni was just a means to get some more qualification.
Anyway, it sounds like you are doing something interesting.. remember that there are plenty of exciting times ahead.. good luck!
