Cream Ibiza 2015

same here I overall think the line up is brilliant and much better than last year except 2-3 dates which are less my thing and on which I am unfortunately on the island

The more I look at the line-ups the more jealous I get all of those lucky bastards with the good line-ups. It's actually really good for trance to be honest, just us 2 got unlucky mate.

Why Cosmic Gate and A & b on the days I'm there? Why?!! I'm sure I'll have a blast anyway haha

As someone who is in the promoting game myself, i know its impossible to please all of the people all of the time. This is magnified x100000 when people are only on the island for a limited amount of time. I dont profess to know anything about trance these days (indeed i havent heard of some of the acts on the main room line up), but what i do know is that the acts that cream have booked will fill the club. And from a promoting aspect that is the goal.

Is there a massive split amongst the people who like trance? I see that people are moaning about this act and that act being on when they are on the island - how different is the music from one trance dj to another? To link it back to something i know about, are these acts as different as say Dave Clarke and Seth Troxler to use a techno comparison?

Lastly - the comment was made that there isnt a massive choice with regards to trance nights on the island. I think the same debate was had on these forums last year too. My answer is the same as it was then - there is a reason why there is limited choice.

Yes, supply and demand. Would also explain the current reason for the island's plethora of tech nights (but that comes at a cost a la 2013). It's unsustainable.

Fans need to support these events. Okay Cream is rammed week-in, week-out. But what about Ferry? How packed is Armin at Ushuaia?

Glad you agree mate! I dont profess to know anything about trance really these days, but what i can easily see is that the popularity (both in the UK and Ibiza) isnt there anymore. Promoters are not going to promote a genre that isnt going to pull the numbers.

Armin was packed at Ushuaia the 3 times I went. Armin also packed out Privilege back in 13, it was just amazing.

Ferry was empty at Space but not a single trance song was played that night, not even trouse, just 'edm'.

Is Ferry Corsten still a big name/big puller? I was a big fan in late 90's/early 2000's!!

But totally right, supply and demand. The supply is cream and the demand is the capacity of Amnesia's main room it would seem...

And totally agree with the tech nights.......i think come the end of September we will be having a conversation that the season was similar to 2013. There are differences of course eg it doesnt look like every DJ with their own night is playing at someone elses a lot too (creating overkill), but i cant see how Amnesia is going to be packed full Monday/Wednesday/Friday when the nights are very similar. Add Enter into that and wherever Luciano end up and a lot of the parties at Sankeys and you are either gonna need some very very dedicated clubbers and/or a LOT of people on the island.

Its gonna be interesting, thats for sure

That's a shame. But, again, it must be indicative of what pulls the crowd. Maybe Space & Ferry just have no confidence in a pure trance night? Sad maybe, but it's money that talks. Feet through the door = money. Musical credibility = not necessarily.

you have a very different perception of what 'packed' means than the club owners'.

both events were certainly busy, but packed is something pretty different in ibiza.

Personally I'm gonna need a small windfall to hit all the parties I want to in one week €€€

I'd kill to hear late 90's/early 2000's Ferry again. He's changed so much you wouldn't even recognise his stuff now. I'm only a young one myself but I recognise quality.

As for the tech nights, Cocoon was empty when I went in July last year, no atmosphere at all.

I know Amnesia packed and that's scary. I understand what you mean now.

It's a shame because I can't see how a pure trance night could possibly do any worse than what their night did last season. I was shocked to still see Ferry have a residency at Space to be honest. He's supporting acts look better this year so I'll give him another shot if I get lucky with the date.

I went first week July so maybe that's why? It was World Cup month so I thought maybe that was the reason why Cocoon was empty but other parties were still nicely filled. Cocoon and Ferry's Full On were by the emptiest parties I went to by a mile.
