Cream @ Amnesia Radio 1 Weekender - Jules Comments...

DOH i was meant to post the link!!!!

here is what he said

Jules here. As you know, I don't post on the messageboard often, even though I read it regularly. When I made the comments about the dj in question, I didn't mention him by name, because I didn't want anyone to think it was anything personal. I was in the club in social capacity and the atmosphere was piss poor (at best), and when playing at Amnesia Ibiza it's harder to spoil the atmosphere than create a good one.

The point I've taken on board via a number of emails and threads I've read relates to my use of acapellas. I use them to try and lighten up the mood in clubs, which can often start to feel too masculine. I'd be the first to accept that sometimes I've over-used them, and I'm trying to get the balance right.

Back to the "World famous dj" comments. I knew I'd spark controversy when I wrote that piece in my diary section. Little did I know how much... And I've still not mentioned the dj in question by name, as I wasn't trying to get into anything personal...

How can you slag someone off and 'not be personal'?

Oakie played out here last year, some thought he was great, others were disgusted. Either way, he is a legend and respect to him. And I have never read him slagging off anyone else regardless.

Perhaps its time Jules had a mid-life career change, opinions like this is not going to make him any friends thats for sure. And what a joke/hypocrasy him calling someone elses DJ'ing boring!

I've always said "each to their own" and if you happen to like Oakie's or Jules' DJing styles then fair enough.

In his defence his comments were about Oakie, he was probably right. Although he didn't name names, it's quite obvious to the world who he was referring to.

But "The Judge" needs to take a long hard look at himself. The words "pot"and "kettle" come to mind......

Let's get the both of them in to a DJ retirement home where they can both practice their lazy, half-hearted mixing. Honestly, it's not that difficult to beat match is it lads??

Judge Jules has got a bit of a cheek, when i was at JS in Eden i was loving Norman Jay's set, uplifting, funky, soulful and the party was goin off big time. then judge tools came on and the standard of music dropped instantly, ive never heard such a crap bunch of tunes in my life, fair play he did interact with the crowd more than oakey did the last time i saw him but thats not a substitute for crap music, needless to say i left soon after.

it may be true than oakey is not not as good or as interested in djing as he used to be and is halfhearted when he does, maybe his best days are behind him but what days they were. this does not excuse his crap djing of late, and im basing this on only what ive heard as it has been a while since i saw oakey, and if he isnt interested anymore he should pack it in and concentrate on producing or something.

as has already been said, JJ should take a long hard look at himself and not take public pot shots at a dj who has contributed a hell of alot more to the dance scene than he has. Oakey will be remembered long after JJ has departed the scene.

Just seen this on Jules site just before the piece at the top........

"Therefore the Radio 1 Essential mix at Amnesia on Saturday was my only social clubbing opportunity of the season." said Jules.

Maybe he should get out more?

BTW, saw Norman Jay for the first time live a couple of weeks ago, very good.

whats jules on about, how can he slag oakey of even if he has had a few bad sets, I mean the bloke produced proabably some of the best sets ever consitantly for 10 years..

It sounds like jules wants more classics, what classics like the ones jules has produced :? I think not.

Haha!! Yeah, don't get me started on comparing them as producers. Oakie craps all over Jules as a producer. I can forgive Oakie for Starry Eyed Surprise as a change of direction. But Jules with such nonsense as "Nappy Hardcore".......pur-leez!
