Cream 2017

I've never been one to go along with what's current though tbh. I just listen to what I like. Unfortunately that's usually something that isn't popular haha. I am a regular at tropi and know the owner, Oscar. Problem is the West end tends to suck you in and before I know it I'm £250 down and have alcohol poisoning before I even make it to a club, so trying to get away from the West end scene now

What are you doing that costs £250 on the West End?!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I’m not a follower of music fashion either. But in Ibiza music fashion dictates the club nights offered, hence no trance beyond cream and some one offs. As mentioned before, given the context I think cream has done well to survive at all. But it is nowhere near the busy rammo’d night it was and up to my last visit a couple of years ago it was questionable if you’d get hear much trance at all because PVD and A&B were certainly not playing it then.

Ended up spending £500 on my second night last season. Also lost my card afterwards. Definitely too much of an aging lightweight for the strip now haha. Every time I've seen pvd he has been very trance based tbf. Cream seems to be rammed every time too but maybe it's that I always do the closing party? Arguably my favourite ever trance night on the island was connect closing where lange played es paradise in late September 2016. Wasn't busy at all but had proper Trance heads there and atmosphere and tunes were great :)

As I say, it’s a couple of years since I heard pvd but it was a trouse fest when I did. A&B was a cheese fest. Good hear cream is still packing them in for closings. It is a shame that fashion sees little space for other trance parties on the island. You may like Prydz on a Tuesday at hi. Worth looking out for parties involving Guy J, Nick Warren and Hernan as they are often on the hypnotic edge of prog. Half of Nina Kraviz current sets seem to be based on an early to mid 90s German tech trance soundtrack.

Does PVD play trance or is it EDM now? Hes in Australia when im there, would be interested to go if its still trance.

You tell me? I go on about two nights out a year at home. Whenever I go out I go "out out" x10!
Seen AVB a few times. Only real good set he did was at a state of trance 750 in Amsterdam last year. Was a religious listener to the radio show but stopped listening this year cause its turned into a state of EDM. I'll check them out. I'm a big Aly and Fila fan. Still a sucker for the old boys like PVD, Thrillseekers, Lange etc. To me, the biggest crime in the history of music was when Tiesto left Trance for Chart EDM. Loved him as a teenager. The ibiza version of in search of sunrise is still one of my favourite album's.

Big article on him in this months mixmag. It certainly suggests he’s playing trance and that the sound is having yet another renaissance. Maybe worth listening to his current stuff on you tube.

Haha. As long as you had fun.

I think Tiesto, Oakenfold, AVB, PVD, A&B, emery, Schultz, miller et al and everyone of the godskitchen djs can all look back and say they made the right career move when they jumped like rats off a sinking ship onto the edm or trouse bandwagons. They all lost me when they did but when you look at the gigs get, their record label output and podcast or radio listenership set against the current trance market they made the right decision. The scene just ran out of juice and new ideas and then went out of fashion as a consequence and because of the rats.

Yet on reflection the scene probably lost me over 15 years ago shortly after 1999. It became horribly commercial and had peaked for me and it coincided with me finding other interesting new stuff. Doesn’t mean to say it can’t or won’t come back though.

I've heard some of tiesto's podcasts and it's horrendous. If he's in music just for a job and to get rich then fair play to him I suppose but if he's a genuine music fan I think he's sold his soul tbh. That's not me demanding he return to trance but the chart crap he's releasing now is awful.

I think Tom is trying to tell us something

That I'm about to open a sunset bar? o_O

Don't know how Cream 18 will looks like but it will be without me .
Cream was my first party ibz 99 in amnesia & what i heard aug 10th 17 has nothing to deal with the music of this area i used to enjoy

it was not busy, lots of place to dance

Roger Sanchez great (the dj b4 him was ok)
Gareth Wyn nice
Above & Beyond  on my black list it's like DVS1 in another kind, its not music but drills sound or other torture tools 's noise  (smarties required? :spank:),some random advising me this will be the best thing ill heard in my life , i believe him at the moment but now, what a laugh  that cheesy stuff?
Fat boy slim, i dont like break beats , i left the place at 5h00am  even though i was trying to convince my self to stay until the end because i wont go back anymore but when u hate the music , u have to leave :D but it was nice party until Fat boy took the decks ...

SO much THIS. They could fit in the second room of Hi for Prydz's night since his music is proggy as well, albeit the higher octane type, but I just don't know how popular they really are. Missed their Soundgarden takeover at KM5 this past year cuz I was too tired to really go out. Regret that.

Hernan and Guy J just did a 20 hour party in Montreal over the weekend! Is this music really not that popular on the island??

Sadly Prog is not so popular in Ibiza. I wentt to one of Nick Warren's nights when on holiday in greece last year and the music and setting was perfect.

I dont think, Prog in room 2 of Prydz night in Hi would be that successful. A lot of people (Not all) who will go to see Prydz are more into the commercial side of things and I would have thought they would have been more attracted to Andrea Oliva than Guy J. Thats just my opinion of course

not that ive been to cream since 03, keeping with a trance theme -Aly & Fila should really be doing some nights as headliner instead of support of PVD. AB have been rank rotton since Group therapy, maybe they would be better suited to the 2nd room at HI with Eric Prydz

There was barely anyone there in the club room when Oliva was playing during one of Prydz's night in July. I think they could at least give it a try with these prog guys but what do I know. The music overall is going towards that slow desert house shiz with the likes Bedouin and those Woomoon parties anyway and Soundgarden/Anjunadeep isn't TOO far off from that stuff for it not to work IMO.
