According to facebook & twitter, cream lineup is due out today (Assuming yesterdays post was NOT an april fools).

my crystal ball advises me - PVD, Calvin Harris, Eddie Halliwell, various other trance people that I dont know and probably a guest appearance from Oakie.

Above & Beyond, JoC, Laidback Luke, Aly & Fila, Orjan Nilsen are my predictions on top of yours

No Ferry Corsten, if he's doing Full On or NWP

i.e the same as usual. and no doubt, as usual, it will be rammed to the rafters every week. Not my thing musically at all, but if it isnt broke then dont fix it!

I never go to Cream, but I'd imagine if Trance and EDM (Calvin "press-play" Harris) are your thing then it does everything you'd want it to?

Only two of interest for a non-Cream type like me are the Eric Prydz and deadmau5 dates, both of who I respect greatly!

Paul Van Dyk dates very very decent. Above & Beyond dates average to poor... particularly the September date we are there.

Spot the pattern....

Clearly they have left the support acts 'in the hands' of the label management of the headline act. Or least that's what it looks like. As a result there is just no consistency. It's fluffy one week, banging the next. How do promoters so tragically misread these things?

I'm actually in shock and awe at the moment. Jordan Suckley, Ben Gold, Sneijder, Bryan Kearney, Simon Patterson, John Askew, Paul Webster... names I never expected to see at Cream.

All the Anjunabeats nights with A&B are disappointed, but I went off their sound a couple of years ago.

I suppose the answer to my own question is that they don't need to care... the place will be busy regardless, because of the Mixmag Terrace.

The lack of consistency is really disappointing for me though. Wake up, Cream!!

I agree they have definitely tried to get some 'harder' trance names on there... just a shame they are all on the PvD nights.

PvD himself is a 'harder' name so I guess I can see the thinking. No progression though. A&B would of wanted headline 3 - 5 or 4 - 6 slot. You can't put a 140bpm DJ on before them.

The answer is to ditch A&B then. :p

Just one of the many problems this polarizing of BPM in trance music has caused.

I know little about Cream, so help educate me, but from looking at the line-ups I assume that there is a massive difference in audience between Main Room & Terrace? The 3 Calvin Harris dates in August make sense - pack in the kids and holiday-makers! Also, I respect Mixmag alot - why do they associate with such (IMO) commercial DJs on the Terrace?!

They won't do that with them being so big in the US. They have ALOT less dates than Paul though. No Paul Oakenfold I noticed. Maybe at Gatecrasher, *if* they do a Trance night?

Paul is on there.....

Phil - i can assure you that Cream will have booked all that themselves and not used label management to sort the line ups

Well, in this instance they have largely used Anjuna artists to support A&B. Logical some would say; short-sighted I would say.

I think Ben has hit on the problem anyway. The problem is BPM. The way trance is at the moment it's a lot harder to really mix the line ups. Cream have disappointed a lot of trance fans today by creating this divide in their dates.

I know little about trance these days so cant really add anything to the BPM debate.

When i say that Cream will have booked the artists - they will have, but obviously when putting a line up together it is tailored towards the headline act...which may explain the bookings on the A&B nights, they have been put together to compliment the headliners. The headliners/their representatives may have indicated a few names to the promoters obviously.

An example - We have a Bedrock show in Liverpool later this month. We have worked with John Digweeds representatives when we were booking the rest of the line up. We were not told who to book - it was a team discussion. That sort of stuff happens all the time. It is artist representatives looking after their artists.

If you had a promoter who didnt know what he was doing (obviously i am NOT including cream in this) - you end up with a situation where the support act didnt compliment the main artist at all.

have another look re oakenfold mate.

and i'll say it again, don't have high hopes for a trance night at gatecrasher.

Yeah I missed him Stivi, my bad.

I keep hearing mixed things RE: Gatecrasher and Trance. Guess we shall have to wait until they reveal their lineups.

its like we said the other week mate - they ain't gonna book trance if it is not gonna have the pull. This year GC will go for what they think are gonna be no risk, busy nights.

From what you said in terms of what trance looks like at the moment - that wouldnt be no risk!
