the counsel of ibiza foresees a period of hard restrictions in the coming months to bring down covid numbers in prep for the season. in this interview he's also honest and says how important the clubs are for a working ibiza tourism season

In typical Boris style it seems he's been hinting at a Tier5 while on Andrew Marr this morning.

Press speculation is that would be same rules as March lockdown, School and Uni's closed, not meeting at all even outside and a set limit of how much outdoor exercise each day. Sheilding would be back.

Remember when he said in 12 weeks we would send it packing! That was last feb/March!
Roll on late spring/summer! The seasonal change and probably the way folk live their lives during this period seems to of had the greatest impact on numbers!
1st day back at work tomorrow for me... Usually today we would book our summer breaks so we have something to look forward to! Not this year!

Well it's not unexpected shambles. I think they will need to make schools and colleges home tutoring for 6 - 8 weeks. Its shit and yeah education and future of kids affected.

But alternative is complete collapse of nhs in many parts, (not just for covid, if waiting 12hrs+ to unload patients from ambulances, think about peeps with heart attacks, in a RTA etc).

Also sad story in papers today of a mum and her mum who both had covid holding hands in hospital, her mum died. They caught it off their 12 yr hold who caught it at school ?

Pushing 60k infections a day and deaths over ~500 a day, we need to make tough choices... just a shame the idiots in charge didn't make the choices earlier when it was easier.

SAGE advised the gov weeks ago the new variant is spreading through schools and to general population and so schools need to at least partially close. So let's make the decisions 24hrs before schools open ?‍♂️

The problem is the decision makers are too optimistic and always hoping it won't be as bad as it actually is.

Reality vs expectation.

Every time

Every f***ing time ?‍♂️?

It is strange to not have any overseas trips planned.
Normally skyscanner is my most used website. I'd always be on the look out for the next adventure.

I don't usually book till April/may time, but think this year going to be probs end of may or June booking for September when we have a clue what is going on.

Although part of me isn't even sure I want to go; not sure I can cope with the "hedonistic" lifestyle, I like my sleep more these days, I'll struggle to even keep going to 11pm?

watched this. Seems quite obvious theres some experts wanting stricter restrictions now but as per usual they’re gunna delay and delay

It's like a leaking dam:

Engineer, "better do something about that before it get worse".

Politician, "oh it might be alright, let's wait and see".

??‍♂️
Slightly contradictory of me, but they are trying to keep everyone happy, and it just isn’t working. Massively political, it has to be; but it shouldn’t be in a Worldwide Pandemic

In our Trust we have 4 hospitals, since May one has been 'cold' for planned surgery etc. That now has 3 wards opening for Covid.

Second wave hasnt really hit yet in Birmingham but staffing of Registered Nurses already at extremely worrying levels.

Morale is beyond terrible. The clapping
wasnt great but a lot better than crowds outside hospital shouting 'Covids a hoax'. Cant explain how hard it is to listen to that nonsense when you get back from a shift.

It won't take a lot for the whole system to fail.

Exactly. If look at far east, they did stuff sooner and harder, plus they have a population who are more conformist as know its actually helping them.

Also guess them having effective test and trace etc that isn't outsourced to their mates who don't have a clue, helps a lot!

Sad thing is they are using the pandemic playbook the uk wrote on how to deal with such pandemics ?‍♂️ (the one that also says keep an up to date stock of ppe etc)

I was just saying that to my mate. Do what needs to be done and if you get unpopular and voted out who cares? Politicians brought up on focus groups, swing seats and opinion poles

That pisses me off. You should be able to force them to do a 12hr porter shift or something. Stupid cunts ?

Here is the uk paper on how to deal with a flu type pandemic. 2011

Instead of deploying the military to help test schoolkids, use them to vaccinate faster so the kids can get back instead of starting it all up, spending massive amounts of resources putting systems in and then ending up closing schools anyway ... which is what I am pretty sure is about to happen.

Or maybe the real issue is that the hoped-for supply of vaccines just isn't going to come through until Spring. Pushing back "normality" until well into the late Summer for the general population. So locking us all down and closing schools whilst they fail to deliver the vaccine programme fast enough is going to look too incompetent for even this Government to swallow ....

There will have been loads of nurses who worked from 7am NYE, not stopped for 12 hours dealing with distress and death, no nurses arrive for the night shift so cant leave and when they do they go out to listen to those thick c**ts?

From what I gather it's the putting vaccine into bottles, slowing stuff down. Bit like ppe shortage in that everyone wants it now.

What I'm surprised about is they knew they needed the fill capacity and so think would have up scaled that.

Unless its literally not enough specialist machines to fill the bottles ?‍♂️

I believe the plan is for the military to support vaccination. They also need to be ready in case they are called on by acute hospitals

Why did the government not train people up over summer?? The adverts went out for jobs to deliver/ support vaccination in December, dont understand that at all
